Pixelor: A Competitive Sketching AI Agent. so You Think You Can Sketch? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We present the first competitive drawing agent Pixelor that exhibits humanlevel performance at a Pictionary-like sketching game, where the participant whose sketch is recognized first is a winner.

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

Automated Sketching of Non-Fractionated Kinematic Chains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The sketching problem arises frequently in the conceptual design of mechanisms, especially in the enumeration process where a large number of topological solutions automatically generated must be analyzed. This paper presents a new graph layout algorithm

Receptor‐Free Identification of Toxic Gases Enabled by Hygroscopic Aqueous Salt Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Water as a gas sensor coating sounds impossible—until it stops evaporating. Here, hygroscopic salt solutions (LiCl, LiBr, H3PO4) form non‐drying aqueous films on CNT chemiresistors under ambient air. Gases partition into these liquid layers, sometimes transforming into water, and generate salt‐specific resistance fingerprints across a four‐channel ...

ESKEMAP: exact sketch-based read mapping

open access: yesAlgorithms for Molecular Biology
Background Given a sequencing read, the broad goal of read mapping is to find the location(s) in the reference genome that have a “similar sequence”. Traditionally, “similar sequence” was defined as having a high alignment score and read mappers were ...

Techniques and Sequence of Sketching in the Conceptual Phase of Automotive Design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper evaluates the techniques of sketching in the conceptual phase of automotive design among automotive designers. The research identifies sketch types used in conceptual stage and a distinction is made between Thumbnail Sketch, Rough Sketch and ...

Designing Stable Periodic Magnetization Textures by Tailoring Anisotropies and Applying Geometrical Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores the possibility to design stable periodic magnetization textures by transforming a 2D film into a rolled‐up 3D architecture and back. In case of an isotropic exchange‐biased layer architecture, the magnetization encoded in the 3D state evolves into a spin‐spiral pattern with controlled periodicity after unrolling.

Sketch2CAD: Sequential CAD Modeling by Sketching in Context [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
International audienceWe present a sketch-based CAD modeling system, where users create objects incrementally by sketching the desired shape edits, which our system automatically translates to CAD operations.

Giant Magnetic Coercivity Driven by Spin‐Bag Ferromagnetism in Epitaxial Sr3YCo4O10+δ Films with Engineered 2D Oxygen Vacancy Ordering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A giant magnetic coercivity and a vertical shift of hysteresis loops are demonstrated in Sr3YCo4O10+δ epitaxial films. The hard magnetic behavior originates from ferromagnetic spin bags stabilized within a long‐range ordered oxygen‐vacancy structure.
