Assessing Thermal Maturity of the Pendência Formation (Potiguar Basin) Using Vitrinite Reflectance and Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Palynofacies assemblages from the onshore Potiguar Basin display a wide thermal maturity range, with vitrinite reflectance (%Ro) values of 0.46–2.72 measured from nine samples at depths of 1059–4443 m. A strong correlation exists between %Ro and Raman parameters, specifically the G‐band's full width at half maximum.

Constraints on the evolution of Taranaki Fault from thermochronology and basin analysis: Implications for the Taranaki Fault play [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Taranaki Fault is the major structure defining the eastern margin of Taranaki Basin and marks the juxtaposition of basement with the Late Cretaceous-Paleogene succession in the basin.

Seismic stratigraphy of the Ontong Java Plateau [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The Ontong Java Plateau, a large, deep-water carbonate plateau in the western equatorial Pacific, is an ideal location for studying responses of carbonate sedimentation to the effects of changing paleoceanographic conditions.

Analysis of Phylogeny Tracking Algorithms for Serial and Multiprocess Applications [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Since the advent of modern bioinformatics, the challenging, multifaceted problem of reconstructing phylogenetic history from biological sequences has hatched perennial statistical and algorithmic innovation. Studies of the phylogenetic dynamics of digital, agent-based evolutionary models motivate a peculiar converse question: how to best engineer ...

On the Connections Between Surficial Processes and Stratigraphy in River Deltas [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We explore connections between surficial deltaic processes (e.g. avulsion, deposition) and the stratigraphic record using a simple numerical model of delta-plain evolution, with the aim of constraining these connections and thus improving prediction of subsurface features.

Multi‐scale geophysical imaging of neotectonic fault activity in the northern Upper Rhine Graben, Germany

open access: yesNear Surface Geophysics, EarlyView.
Abstract A comprehensive multi‐method geophysical strategy is used to investigate two faults in the Northern Upper Rhine Graben. Combining industrial 3D seismic data with our own 2D P‐ and S‐wave seismic, electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and ground‐penetrating radar (GPR), we created comprehensive subsurface images of the faults. 3D seismic data

UGIJAR AND CANJAYAR NEOGENE BASINS (SE SPAIN): AN EXAMPLE OF STRIKE-SLIP BASIN EVOLUTION IN TRANSPRESSIVE REGIME

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2017
The present study has been carried out in the eastern part of the Alpujarran corridor (Betic Chain), an E-W trending basin, 80 km long, of Neogene-Quaternary age.

The implications of K-Ar glauconite dating of the Diest Formation on the paleogeography of the Upper Miocene in Belgium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The glauconite-rich Diest Formation in central and north Belgium contains sands in the Campine subsurface and the hilly Hageland area that can be distinguished from each other.

Genetic Stratigraphy of Key Demographic Events in Arabia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The issue of admixture in human populations is normally addressed by genome-wide (GW) studies, and several approaches have been developed to date admixture events [1,2,3,4,5].

A Guide to Tracking Phylogenies in Parallel and Distributed Agent-based Evolution Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Computer simulations are an important tool for studying the mechanics of biological evolution. In particular, in silico work with agent-based models provides an opportunity to collect high-quality records of ancestry relationships among simulated agents. Such phylogenies can provide insight into evolutionary dynamics within these simulations.
