Induction Temperature and Feeding Profile Shape the Partitioning Between Soluble Product and Inclusion Body Formation in Escherichia coli

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inclusion body (IB) processes yielding the recombinant product only as IBs are long‐established in the biopharmaceutical industry. Yet, for recombinant proteins that accumulate both IBs and soluble fraction depending on the selected upstream processing (USP) strategy, the influence of process parameters on the partitioning between both forms ...

Batch‐to‐Batch Optimization of pH Shifts in CHO Bioreactor Operations

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Culture pH is an important operating parameter in CHO cell cultures producing mAb since it directly affects growth and specific productivity. Mathematical models can be used to optimize the magnitude and timing of pH shifts provided that they are robust to model errors.

A Modular Micro‐Chemostat System for High‐Throughput Continuous Cultivations

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
This study presents and demonstrates a modular 12‐channel micro‐chemostat, designed to be used by Genesis, a Robot Scientist developed to automate scientific research in yeast systems biology. The bioreactor performance fulfilled the predefined requirements, and the empirical results from the biological experiments were consistent with the literature ...

Accelerating green heterocyclic synthesis: Convergence of AI, automation, and sustainable chemistry

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, EarlyView.
Green heterocyclic synthesis and data‐driven tools such as AI, high‐throughput experimentation, continuous flow, and self‐driving laboratories have developed largely in parallel. This review connects them and asks how green metrics such as E‐factor and PMI might serve as explicit optimization targets rather than post‐hoc measures, toward sustainable ...

Scaffolding a Low‐Cost Experiential Bioreactor Module: Reducing Cognitive Load to Enhance Competency and Self‐Efficacy

open access: yesBiochemistry and Molecular Biology Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Low‐cost experiential modules are critical for democratizing biotechnology education, yet most undergraduates lack hands‐on experience with continuous‐culture bioreactor operations, which are fundamental to industrial bioprocessing. This study employed design‐based research across two iterative cycles (Fall 2024, n = 8; Fall 2025, n = 11) to ...

Metal nanostructure‐coupled label‐free localized surface plasmon resonance biosensors for rapid and sensitive disease diagnosis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
LSPR biosensing enables rapid, sensitive, and low‐sample‐volume detection of biomarkers, with broad applications in diagnosing cancer, infectious, and chronic diseases. Advances in nanostructure design, micro/nanofabrication, and microfluidic integration have expanded the potential of LSPR sensors in biomedical diagnostics.

Scalable catalyst production process for oleate hydratase whole‐cell biocatalysis

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
This study establishes a scalable lactose‐induced fed‐batch fermentation for an Escherichia coli whole‐cell biocatalyst containing an oleate hydratase. Operation at a higher growth rate markedly increased biomass yields while maintaining catalyst activity and was demonstrated at 150 L scale.
