Inverse Design of Nanoparticulate Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inverse design shifts nanomaterial development from empirical trial‐and‐error to predictive model‐driven strategies. It can rely on knowledge‐based, data‐based, or hybrid process and property functions. This perspective article provides a practical framework for applying inverse design based on instructive examples. It discusses which modeling approach

Programmable Carrier‐Free All‐Enzyme Beads for Modular Continuous‐Flow Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Genetically encoded enzyme building blocks self‐assemble into monodisperse, carrier‐free protein beads via a droplet‐based formulation strategy. These programmable catalytic particles enable modular continuous‐flow biocatalysis, from single‐enzyme reactions to multi‐enzyme cascades and bead–bead coupled reactor systems.

Robotics in Ionizing Radiation Environments: Vulnerabilities, Hardening, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Radiation exposure causes cumulative degradation in robotic sensors, actuators, and electronic logic, often leading to undetected failures. This study maps component vulnerabilities, evaluates hardening and shielding strategies, and identifies testing gaps that must be addressed to enable next‐generation radiation‐tolerant robotic systems.

Preliminary Biomass Characterization in a Sequencing Batch Biofilm Reactor

open access: yesAnnali di Chimica, 2004
AbstractThe paper reports the results of an investigation aimed to evaluate the influence of hydrodynamic conditions on physical and biochemical characteristics of granular sludge obtained in a SBBR system. Biomass density resulted very high, i.e. 70‐125 gTSS/Lbiomass, and this permitted to achieve a biomass concentration such high as 17‐45 gTSS/Lbed ...
