A Prospective Randomized Study to Compare Premixed Vs Sequential Injection of Fentanyl and Hyperbaric Levobupivacaine in Subarachnoid Block for Lower Limb Orthopedic Surgery [PDF]

open access: yesAin Shams Medical Journal
Background and Aim: The addition of low doses of opioids to local anaesthetics during spinal anaesthesia decreases the incidence of local anaesthetic side effects and produces a dose sparing effect with less haemodynamic variations in perioperative ...

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Effect of DFPP on Ferroptosis in Peripheral Blood CD14+ Monocytes of Hyperlipidemic Patients Involving the ACSL4/LPCAT3/ALOX5 Pathway

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Although statins are the cornerstone of lipid‐lowering therapy, their use may be limited in some patients by adverse effects. This study evaluated the possible impact of non‐drug treatment using double‐filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) on CD14+

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

On Sequential Coupled Caputo-Type Fractional Differential Inclusions with Coupled Boundary Conditions: A Multivalued Fixed-Point Approach

open access: yesMathematics
This study addresses the existence of solutions for a class of coupled fractional differential inclusions subject to coupled boundary conditions. The analysis is developed within the framework of nonlinear functional analysis by employing Carathéodory ...

Reaction to Koppad SN et al. Bilateral spermatocytic seminoma: an update on "synchronous" and "sequential" presentation of this rare variant of testicular tumour

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2014
In response to the article published by Koppad and colleagues in the Pan African Medical Journal on bilateral synchronous presentation of spermatocytic seminoma, the authors present their data following a comprehensive literature review to unveil the ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

CAMBSRec: A Context-Aware Multi-Behavior Sequential Recommendation Model

open access: yesInformatics
Multi-behavior sequential recommendation (MBSRec) is a form of sequential recommendation. It leverages users’ historical interaction behavior types to better predict their next actions.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
