TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Single‐Field Evolution Rule Governs the Dynamics of Representational Drift in Mouse Hippocampal Dorsal CA1 Region

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Hippocampal place codes change substantially across days, yet the mechanisms governing their temporal evolution remain incompletely understood. To quantitatively characterize this process, longitudinal one‐photon calcium imaging of dorsal CA1 neurons in ...

Knowledge-enhanced graph transformer with contrastive learning for drug-drug interaction prediction

open access: yesMachine Learning with Applications
Background: Adverse drug-drug interactions (DDIs) remain a critical public health concern, responsible for approximately 125,000 deaths annually in the United States and accounting for nearly 30% of all adverse drug events.

Tumour necrosis factor-α inhibitors for ankylosing spondylitis and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis: a systematic review and economic evaluation

open access: yesHealth Technology Assessment, 2016
Background: Tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α inhibitors (anti-TNFs) are typically used when the inflammatory rheumatologic diseases ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-AxSpA) have not responded adequately to ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Exploratory mixed-methods analysis of the determinants of use of health research evidence among planning teams in Tanzania

open access: yesBMJ Open
Introduction Achieving universal health coverage requires the use of health research evidence in decision-making; however, this remains understudied in lower and middle-income countries (LMICs) such as Tanzania.

Application of integrated Bayesian modeling and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods to the conservation of a harvested species [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Biodiversity and Conservation, 2004
When endeavoring to make informed decisions, conservation biologists must frequently contend with disparate sources of data and competing hypotheses about the likely impacts of proposed decisions on the resource status.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Conducting water-energy-food nexus studies: what, why, and how

open access: yesScientific Reports
The increasing pressure on resources and the persistent failure to address global malnutrition are evident challenges. A significant contributing factor is the decline in the quality of production resources, particularly water.
