Genetic algorithms (GA) represent an algorithmic optimization technique inspired by biological evolution. A major strength of this meta-heuristic is its ability to explore the search space in independent parallel search routes rendering the algorithm highly efficient if implemented on a parallel architecture.

Serial Killers and Serial Rapists
2008This chapter reviews the typologies for serial murder and serial rape. The aim here is to showcase the principal conceptual models that have accounted for these two forms of criminal behavior in the extant literature. Additionally, however, the chapter considers where and how the typologies on serial rape and murder could be integrated, especially with

Serial Defaults, Serial Profits
2017This chapter looks at the profitability of banking families. Lending to the king of Spain made good business sense; it was hugely profitable on average, despite periodic defaults and restructurings. Defaults and reschedulings reduced the rate of return, but profitability net of these losses was still high—and markedly higher than the return on ...

The authors introduce the notion of (*)-serial coalgebras that is a generalisation of serial coalgebras. A coalgebra is said to be (*)-serial, if is both right and left (*)-serial, i.e. if its right (resp. left) injective indecomposable comodules are uniserial or biserial.

Serials Review, 1974
A visit last July to the American Library Association's annual conference in New York City proved both rewarding and frustrating. There was not enough time for the editor of this column to thoroughly inspect all the reference serials which were displayed—a mind‐numbing assortment of new and changing titles.

Abstract The irony of Stravinsky’s adoption of twelve-note technique is often remarked on, since it came so soon after Schoenberg’s death. A deeper irony lies in the failure of Stravinsky’s late conversion to win yet more converts to serialism.
