Robustness against Read Committed for Transaction Templates [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The isolation level Multiversion Read Committed (RC), offered by many database systems, is known to trade consistency for increased transaction throughput. Sometimes, transaction workloads can be safely executed under RC obtaining the perfect isolation of serializability at the lower cost of RC.

Blockchain and NoSQL: Enhancing Throughput via a Deep Learning‐Based Hybrid Architecture

open access: yesInternet Technology Letters, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Any data structure used to store information can be considered a database. Blockchain technology, at its core, is no more than a ledger to store information about transactions. In recent years, such technology has gained immense popularity in a wide range of applications.

Cyborg Methodologies: Rewriting the Role of Digital, Social and Mobile Media Technologies in the Production of Knowledge

open access: yesBritish Journal of Management, EarlyView.
Abstract The ubiquitous entanglement of digital, social and mobile media – and increasingly generative artificial intelligence – in everyday life is reconstituting us (and our methodologies) as cyborg. This paper sets out to explore how cyborg methodologies can positively impact research practice and outcomes.

Cut-off Theorems for the PV-model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We prove cut-off results for deadlocks and serializability of a $PV$-thread $T$ run in parallel with itself: For a $PV$ thread $T$ which accesses a set $\mathcal{R}$ of resources, each with a maximal capacity $\kappa:\mathcal{R}\to\mathbb{N}$, the PV-program $T^n$, where $n$ copies of $T$ are run in parallel, is deadlock free for all $n$ if and only if

A Lightweight Terrain‐Constraint Model for Wind Spatial Downscaling

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract High‐resolution wind fields has always been the goal of refined meteorological forecasting. Using advanced deep learning algorithms for wind downscaling is an effective approach to achieve this goal. However, the lack of physical process understanding in deep learning algorithms results in the inability to accurately reconstruct fine‐scale ...

Parsing Millions of DNS Records Per Second

open access: yesSoftware: Practice and Experience, Volume 55, Issue 4, Page 778-788, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives To enhance the throughput of DNS parsing by addressing the computational expense of processing large plain text DNS zone files. To specifically increase the speed of parsing DNS zone files compared to existing state‐of‐the‐art parsers. Method Development of a new approach named simdzone for DNS parsing.

Rethinking serializable multiversion concurrency control [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Multi-versioned database systems have the potential to significantly increase the amount of concurrency in transaction processing because they can avoid read-write conflicts. Unfortunately, the increase in concurrency usually comes at the cost of transaction serializability.
