Sequence stratigraphy, chemostratigraphy and facies analysis of Cambrian Series 2 – Series 3 boundary strata in northwestern Scotland [PDF]
AbstractGlobally, the Series 2 – Series 3 boundary of the Cambrian System coincides with a major carbon isotope excursion, sea-level changes and trilobite extinctions. Here we examine the sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy and carbon isotope record of this interval in the Cambrian strata (Durness Group) of NW Scotland.

Stratigraphy of the Osage series in Southeastern Iowa
The Osage Series in southeastern Iowa is composed primarily of cherty carbonate rocks. Thin shale beds appear in the middle of the series and increase upward in number and thickness. The lithologic character and thickness of the series are relatively uniform throughout the area.

Introduction to the “Circum-Arctic Palynological Event Stratigraphy” (CAPE) series of papers
Palynomorphs are one of the few groups of fossils that provide biostratigraphic control in marine to nonmarine rocks and can be applied as proxies for paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic interpretations. Their utility is enhanced by their microscopic size, which is usually less than 200 micrometres; they are thus easily recovered from small rock ...

FACIAL UNCONFORMITIES AND FACIAL SERIES IN THE SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY
The sequence stratigraphy is currently, on the one hand, a leading approach in the study of the internal structure of sedimentary basins, on the other hand, a creatively developing discipline, the conceptual basis of which is being developed. The concept of a «system tract» is one of the most questionable concepts of sequence stratigraphy. According to

New data on the Dogger - Cenomanian stratigraphy of Tripolitza series in Central Crete
Tripolitza series represents the eastern part of the Gavrovo - Tripolitza platform. It outcrops in central and southeastern Peloponnesus, Crete and the Aegean islands. Its stratigraphie column starts with a volcano-sedimentary, clastic sequences (the Tyros beds), of Late Paleozoic to Late Triassic age, followed by a carbonate series of Late Triassic to

The stratigraphy and origin of the portaskaig boulder bed series (Dalradian) [PDF]
AbstractThe late Pre‐Cambrian Portaskaig Boulder Bed Series shows a very uniform sequence for some 600 km along the Caledonian strike, from Connemara on the west coast of Ireland to Aberdeenshire in Scotland. The Series, which is divided into four groups of beds, comprises numerous individual boulder beds separated by stratified sediments.

Sequence stratigraphy is branch of stratigraphy that is based upon using stratal patterns and stratal termination patterns to identify groups of strata that were deposited within the same interval and therefore genetically related. Its wide application in the 1980s and 1990s has provided new insight into the history and architecture of basin fill.In ...

THE STRATIGRAPHY OF THE CARADOC SERIES IN THE CROSS FELL INLIER [PDF]
Summary The rocks of the Caradoc Series in the Cross Fell Inlier have been re-examined and their faunas, almost exclusively of shelly type, collected systematically. As a result a fairly detailed correlation with the stages of the south Shropshire succession is now possible.
