Sequence stratigraphy and biological signals: statistical studies of benthic foraminifera from Liassic series

Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 1994
Abstract A study of benthic Foraminifera from the Toarcian in Quercy (Aquitaine Basin, France) shows that micropaleontological assemblages are influenced by sea level changes. The percentages of coiled, and straight Nodosarridae (Lenticulina, Citharina) differ during periods of low sea level to high sea level.

Stratigraphy of the Belt series in Libby and Trout Creek quadrangles, northwestern Montana and northern Idaho

Geological Society of America Bulletin, 1941
Three formations of the Belt series—Prichard, Wallace, and Striped Peak—can be traced northward from the northeastern part of the Coeur d’Alene district, Idaho, through the Trout Creek quadrangle to the northern part of the Libby quadrangle, Montana. The differences upon which the separation of the Burke, Revett, and St.

Debatable questions of Boreal Triassic stratigraphy: boundary between middle and upper series

Russian Geology and Geophysics, 2008
Abstract Various opinions on the position of the Middle/Upper Triassic boundary have been concisely reviewed. The lower boundary of the Carnian Stage is accepted at the base of the Trachyceras aon Zone. The recentmost data on biostratigraphy of boundary beds of the Ladinian and Carnian Stages of the Southern Alps, Himalayas, British ...

The stratigraphy of the arenig series in the Aberdaron to Sarn Area, Western Llŷcn, North Wales

Geological Journal, 1988
AbstractA new interpretation of the Arenig succession in the Aberdaron area is presented based on biostratigraphical correlation. A lithostratigraphy based on section correlation is presented, and three subareas are identified, each with a different stratigraphy. The Sarn Formation comprises the basal ‘flaggy’ sandstone unit in all three areas but is ...

Time-series analysis in cyclic stratigraphy: An example from the Cretaceous of the Southern Alps, Italy

Mathematical Geology, 1993
The importance of time-series analysis in cyclic stratigraphy is evaluated by comparing three different methods (adaptive multiple taper spectral analysis, auto-/cross-correlation analysis, cova functions) applied to stratigraphic time series from the Early Cretaceous Cismon section in northern Italy.

Stratigraphy of Barail Series in Southern Part of Shillong Plateau, Assam, India: GEOLOGICAL NOTES

AAPG Bulletin, 1965
The Barail series (Oligocene), which includes the major petroleum reservoir rocks of India, has generally been considered to be absent in the southern part of the Shillong plateau. Palynologic investigations of samples from the Tertiary section exposed in the Simsang river region and elsewhere along the south margin of the plateau indicate that ...
