Serogroup conversion of Vibrio cholerae

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1995
Vibrio cholerae serogroup O1 can be detected in the environment in a viable but nonculturable form, whereas V. cholerae non-O1 cells can be readily cultured during interepidemic periods in geographical regions where cholera is endemic. In the present study, pure cultures of V.

Proposal for a fourth aquabirnavirus serogroup

Archives of Virology, 2008
Four putative aquabirnaviruses, based on morphology, nucleic acid type and partial RNA-dependent RNA polymerase gene (VP1) sequence, isolated from three tropical freshwater fish species were not neutralised by antisera against type members of the Aquabirnavirus genus serogroups A, B or C.

Molecular serogrouping ofEscherichia coli

Animal Health Research Reviews, 2018
AbstractO-antigens present on the surface ofEscherichia coliprovide antigenic specificity for the strain and are the main components for O-serogroup designation. Serotyping using O-group-specific antisera for the identification ofE. coliO-serogroups has been traditionally the gold-standard for distinguishingE. colistrains.

Human Serogroup C Rotavirus in Finland

Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1988
Among 600 rotavirus specimens collected in Finland during 1985-1987, 6 isolates were found to be related to serogroup C rotavirus by RNA profile analysis and solid phase immune electron microscopy (SPIEM). The group C isolates originated from 4 children (4.5, 4.5, 6.5 and 7 years old) with diarrhoea.

Serogroup B meningococcal vaccines.

Current opinion in investigational drugs (London, England : 2000), 2006
Neisseria meningitidis causes severe, often fatal septicemia and meningitis. Polysaccharide vaccines that offer protection against infection with meningococcal serogroups A, C, Y and W-135 are effective in older children and adults, and have been widely used.

[Meningococcal serogroup B vaccines].

Archives de pediatrie : organe officiel de la Societe francaise de pediatrie, 2013
The diversity and antigenic variability of Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B strains around the world has been a major challenge to developing a vaccine with broad coverage. Outer-membrane vesicle vaccines appear to be safe and effective but are strain-specific vaccines and used in delimited areas.
