The Serology of Capsular Antigens

Current topics in microbiology and immunology, 1990
The serology of capsular antigens will primarily be understood by the present authors as the principles that determine the use of immunologic reactions for the detection of capsular antigens, and the application of such reactions for the identification and subdivision of bacteria.

Cancer/Testis Antigens: from Serology to mRNA Cancer Vaccine.

Seminars in Cancer Biology, 2021
Cancer/testis antigens (CTAs) are a group of tumor antigens expressed in numerous cancer tissues, as well as in the testis and placental tissues. There are over 200 CTAs supported by serology and expression data.

Serological reactions to Nocardia antigens

The American Journal of The Medical Sciences, 1975
Sera from 23 patients with nocardiosis were tested for the presence of precipitating antibodies against an extract of Nocardia asteroides. Sera from nine of 20 patients infected with Nocardia asteroides and one of three sera from patients with Nocardia brasiliensis produced one to three precipitin lines with the antigen.

Two A Antigens with Abnormal Serologic Properties

Vox Sanguinis, 1957
SummaryTwo examples of a blood group A with unusual properties are described. Although the red cells contain a strong A antigen, the cells fail to agglutinate with anti‐A serum if routine tests are applied. The presence of a hidden A antigen was established by absorption and elution experiments and by the blocking test.

NATURE OF ANTIGENS AND ANTIBODIES IN SEROLOGY OF SYPHILIS

Archives of Dermatology, 1949
SEROLOGIC tests for syphilis have come to be recognized as necessary laboratory aids in the diagnosis, management and prognosis of clinical syphilis. Yet, for many years the actual antigen-antibody mechanisms involved have not been adequately explained.

Serology of H-Y antigen

Human Genetics, 1981
Anti-H-Y antiserum is generally obtained from female inbred mice or rats that have been hyperimmunized with syngeneic male cells. The specificity of such antiserum is defined by its reactivity for male but not female cells. A number of conventional serological assays have been used to measure that reactivity.

A Serological Survey for Australia Antigen and Antibody

Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1971
Of 262 institutionalized patients with mental retardation of various etiologies, 10% were positive for Australia antigen by complement fixation (CF) testing, while 34.1% of 138 patients with Down's syndrome were positive. Serum samples from 27 mentally retarded patients with acute, infectious hepatitis, acquired during an epidemic were negative for ...

The Preparation of an Inactivated Antigen for Bluetongue Serology

Zentralblatt für Veterinärmedizin Reihe B, 1984
SummaryNon‐infectious Bluetongue virus (BTV) was prepared for both a group‐ and type‐specific serological test to detect BTV specific antibodies. Group‐specific antibodies directed against all 21 serotypes were detected with the ELISA whereas serotype‐specific antibodies were shown with the haemagglutination inhibition test.

Serological identification of thymocyte differentiation antigens

Human Immunology, 1988
We have examined subfractions of human thymocytes for the expression of novel differentiation antigens. Non-HLA alloantisera procured from multiparous women served as antibody probes. Thymocytes from five individuals were sequentially separated by discontinuous Percoll density gradient centrifugation and a peanut agglutinin (PNA) panning technique ...
