High‐Yield Synthesis of Fe‐NC Electrocatalysts Using Mg2+ Templating and Schiff‐Base Porous Organic Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fe─NC porous oxygen reduction electrocatalysts are prepared employing a 2,4,6‐Triaminopyrimidine‐based porous organic polymer, a Mg2+ Lewis acid, and a low‐temperature cation exchange protocol. Using the polymer precursor achieves high pyrolysis yields and results in atomically dispersed FeNx sites. The resulting catalysts feature hierarchical porosity

Biogeochemical studies on some nickel accumulating plants from New Zealand and New Caledonian serpentine areas : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Chemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Serpentine areas in New Zealand and New Caledonia are described. A study was made of soil factors controlling the distribution of five species from a serpentine flora in the Dun Mountain area, South Island, New Zealand.

西南日本の熱変成超苦鉄質岩体中のかんらん石と輝石の組成変化に関する覚書 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This short article presents some diagrams showing the compositional variations of primary and metamorphic olivine, orthopyroxene and clinopyroxene in peridotites and serpentinites from thermally metamorphosed ultramafic complexes in SW Japan. In contrast

Bacterial communities differ between plant species and soil type, and differentially influence seedling establishment on serpentine soils

open access: yesPlant and Soil, 2019
Root-associated microbial communities influence plant phenotype, growth and local abundance, yet the factors that structure these microbial communities are still poorly understood.

Spatially Tailorable Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Alignment During Digital Light Process 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we report the fabrication of 3D printable liquid crystalline elastomer (LCE) structures with spatially tailorable alignment domains within the same layer. This work addresses the long‐standing challenge of preparing complex 3D LCE architectures with patterned functional domains to achieve nonlinear deformations. Fabrication of multi‐domains in 3D

Serpentine soils do not limit mycorrhizal fungal diversity.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BackgroundPhysiologically stressful environments tend to host depauperate and specialized biological communities. Serpentine soils exemplify this phenomenon by imposing well-known constraints on plants; however, their effect on other organisms is still ...

The Influence of Serpentine Soil on the Early Development of a Non-Serpentine African Thistle, Berkheya radula (Harv.) De Wild

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Serpentine soils are rich in heavy metals and poor in nutrients, limiting plant species’ performance and survival. Nevertheless, specificities of such limitations as well as adaptability features required for thriving in serpentine environments are ...

A primordial origin for the atmospheric methane of Saturn's moon Titan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The origin of Titan's atmospheric methane is a key issue for understanding the origin of the Saturnian satellite system. It has been proposed that serpentinization reactions in Titan's interior could lead to the formation of the observed methane ...

Self-Growing and Serpentine Locomotion of Liquid Metal Induced by Copper Ions.

open access: yesACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2018
The realization of serpentine locomotion has been a core goal pursued. Here, a straightforward approach was discovered to generate the serpentine locomotion based on a brand-new phenomenon observed on liquid metal (Ga67In21Sn12). The dynamic process that
