The Local Effects of Systemic Therapies in Urological Oncology: A Systematic Review

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Systemic therapies can impact local disease progression in genitourinary malignancies, potentially reducing the necessity for extensive surgery. Understanding these effects is crucial for optimizing treatment approaches in urologic oncology.

Beyond Tradition: An Integrated Toxicological, Ecological, and Public Health Perspective on Aristolochic Acids

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, Volume 46, Issue 8, Page 2599-2622, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aristolochia species have long been used in traditional medicine for their presumed anti‐inflammatory, analgesic and antimicrobial properties. However, extensive toxicological and epidemiological evidence now demonstrates that these plants contain aristolochic acids (AAs) I and II, highly potent nephrotoxic, genotoxic, and carcinogenic ...

Bone marrow bi-hypoplasia in a dog with a sertoli cell tumor

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia
A 20-year-old unneutered male poodle presented prostration, apathy, staggering gait, lack of appetite and tick infestation. The dog was diagnosed with a Sertoli cell tumor in an undescended testicle by cytological, histopathological and ...

Poorly Differentiated Ovarian Sertoli-Leydig Cell Tumor in a 16-Year-Old Single Woman: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesCase Reports in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2013
Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor (SLCT) of ovary is an exceedingly unusual neoplasm that belongs to a group of sex cord-stromal tumors of ovary and accounts for less than 0.5% of all primary ovarian neoplasms.

Serine Ameliorates Cadmium‐Induced Testicular Injury by Regulating the PGAM1/PHGDH Signaling Pathway

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
Serine mitigates cadmium‐induced testicular injury in mice by inhibiting the PGAM1/PHGDH pathway, restoring ion homeostasis and glycolysis, and relieving oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and apoptosis. ABSTRACT Cadmium (Cd) is a widespread environmental contaminant that impairs male reproductive function; however, the metabolic mechanisms ...

Nano‐Rosmarinic Acid Protects Against Chlorfenapyr‐Induced Testicular Toxicity Through Modulation of NRF2/HO‐1 and NF‐κB/NLRP3 Signaling Pathways

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
Chlorfenapyr reduces testicular weight, sperm quality, and reproductive hormones. This study highlights that RA within chitosan nanoparticles (RA‐CHNPs) are superior to Rosmarinic acid in mitigating CFP‐induced testicular damage. RA within chitosan nanoparticles leads to the reduction of NF‐κB and NLRP3 expression in seminiferous tubules and activates ...

Incidental detection of a virilizing Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor during cesarean section: A case report

open access: yesCase Reports in Women's Health
Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors are a rare type of sex cord-stromal tumors that are mostly hormonally active (androgenic or estrogenic). Owing to the rarity of this disease, its impact on pregnancy is not fully understood.

Prospective external validation of ADNEX and RMI for estimating risk of malignancy in adnexal masses in general gynecological settings: Danish multicenter study

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 68, Issue 2, Page 256-269, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives The primary aims of this study were to validate externally the diagnostic performance of the Assessment of Different NEoplasias in the adneXa (ADNEX) model for distinguishing between malignant and benign adnexal masses, when used by non‐expert ultrasound examiners in general gynecological settings with a low prevalence of ovarian ...

Metabolic Signatures of Aging and Gametogenesis in Hydra oligactis

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 8, August 2026.
Hydra oligactis undergoes cold‐induced sexual differentiation and aging, culminating in death. GC–MS‐based metabolite profiling revealed signatures of gametogenesis, for example, polyamine accumulation, and of aging, such as loss of cytoprotection and neurotransmitter function, including taurine depletion.
