Serum Sickness

Dermatologic Clinics, 1985
Serum sickness can be induced experimentally in the rabbit by injecting a foreign protein. The pathophysiology has been well described. A similar illness is seen in man after injection of heterologous serum, and well as many other drugs. Included is a discussion of immunopathologic studies of human serum sickness and serum sickness-like diseases ...

Serum Diiodotyrosine

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1975
Serum diiodotyrosine (DIT) was measured by radioimmunoassay in healthy subjects patients with thyroid disease and a variety of laboratorty animals. Ninety-two healthy adults had a mean level of 101 ng/100 ml. There was no sex difference in DIT levels but DIT fell with aging. There was no change with short term oral SSKI administration.

Serum neurofilament dynamics predicts neurodegeneration and clinical progression in presymptomatic Alzheimer’s disease [PDF]

open access: yesNature Medicine, 2019
Neurofilament light chain (NfL) is a promising fluid biomarker of disease progression for various cerebral proteopathies. Here we leverage the unique characteristics of the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network and ultrasensitive immunoassay technology ...

Antilymphocyte Serum or Antithymus Serum

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1970
The renewal and burst of interest in various aspects of heterologous antilymphocyte serum during the last several years appear to have resulted from the study of Waksman and his co-workers. 1 They demonstrated that rabbit antiguinea pig lymph node serum suppressed the delayed skin reactions to dinitrochlorobenzene, diphtheria toxoid, and old tuberculin

Serum albumin

Hepatology, 1969
The liver manufactures albumin at a massive rate and decreases production in times of environmental, nutritional, toxic and trauma stress. Osmotic pressure is a basic evolutionary regulatory factor, and hormonal control over albumin production has been demonstrated.
