The Neutralization of Transmissible Gastroenteritis Virus by Normal Heterotypic Serum
Exposure of transmissible gastroenteritis virus of pigs to unheated normal heterotypic serum resulted in a drop in infectivity, an effect which was lost after heating the serum to 56 degrees C for 30 min or by treatments inactivating complement. Analysis of virus proteins, RNA and lipids, and centrifugation studies showed little difference between ...

The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Chamber‐specific decellularized extracellular matrices (ECMs) were developed, preserving native proteomic profiles of ventricular and atrial myocardium. These innate biochemical cues differentially modulate cardiomyocyte subtypes to drive engineered heart tissue development and function, highlighting the importance of incorporating regional ECM cues in

Packed hydrogel microfiber (PHM) materials consist of flexible and high aspect ratio hydrogel components that, as a bulk material, are simultaneously mechanically robust and dynamic. Cells cultured in or on PHM scaffolds can be influenced by topographical cues or interact with a dynamic environment that permits cell spreading and multicellular ...

This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...

The Differentiation of Calf Rotaviruses by Plaque Morphology and Serum Neutralization
Summary The plaques formed by two calf rotavirus isolates differed in size and appearance. One isolate was more sensitive to homologous than to heterologous antiserum while the other was equally sensitive to both antisera.

Photothermal‐Activated Antibacterial Amyloid‐Polyphenol‐Iron Hydrogels for Synergistic Wound Healing
We report a thermally triggered supramolecular hydrogel (LTFe) formed by Fe3+ and tannic acid on lysozyme amyloid fibrils. Fe3+ enables rapid gelation and photothermal transduction with an efficiency of 88.56%. The LTFe hydrogel exhibits excellent biocompatibility, potent antibacterial activity against E. coli and S.

Serum Accessory Factors in the Measurement of Arbovirus Neutralization Reactions
Summary Factors in normal serum which enhance Semliki Forest virus neutralization by specific immune guinea-pig serum have been demonstrated in a range of normal domestic and laboratory animals. The factors affecting the in vitro assay system for accessory factors have been determined and enhancement of neutralization by normal guinea-pig serum in ...

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.
