Tocilizumab‐related hypertriglyceridemia is independent of key molecules regulating lipid metabolism

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 53, Issue 9, September 2023., 2023
Abstract Introduction Tocilizumab (TCZ) treatment is associated with dyslipidaemia, including a rise in triglycerides through a mechanism poorly understood. Three molecules play key roles in the regulation of triglyceride metabolism: apolipoprotein C‐III (ApoC‐III), angiopoietin‐like protein 4(ANGPLT4) and lipoprotein lipase (LPL). The aim of this work

Trace elements as potential modulators of puberty‐induced amelioration of oxidative stress and inflammation in childhood obesity

open access: yesBioFactors, Volume 49, Issue 4, Page 820-830, July/August 2023., 2023
We found puberty to be characterized by better inflammatory and oxidative control, as reflected by lower levels of C‐reactive protein and oxidative damage markers, as well as improved antioxidant defense. This was in turn accompanied by a healthier multielemental profile, with increased levels of essential elements involved in the antioxidant system ...

Sexually dimorphic metal alterations in childhood obesity are modulated by a complex interplay between inflammation, insulin, and sex hormones

open access: yesBioFactors, Volume 49, Issue 4, Page 849-860, July/August 2023., 2023
Children with obesity, regardless of sex and insulin resistance status, showed elevated plasma copper‐to‐zinc ratios. In contrast, obesity‐related erythroid metal alterations were interestingly found to be sex‐dependent, with increased contents of iron, zinc, and copper being exclusively detected among female subjects.

Mediterranean Diet, Energy Restriction, Physical Activity, and Atherogenicity of Very‐Low Density Lipoproteins: Findings from Two Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 67, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
According to two randomized controlled trials in older adults at high cardiovascular risk, a traditional Mediterranean diet decreases VLDL atherogenicity relative to a low‐fat control diet (it reduces VLDL levels of apolipoprotein C‐III and boosts the lipoprotein capacity to transfer triglycerides).
