Abstract Following a request from the European Commission, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) assessed the 2021 post‐market environmental monitoring (PMEM) report on the cultivation of Cry1Ab‐expressing maize event MON 810. Evidence provided in the PMEM report shows that farmers growing maize MON 810 in Spain complied partially with refuge ...

Pest risk assessment of Elasmopalpus lignosellus for the European Union
Abstract Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a quantitative pest risk assessment of Elasmopalpus lignosellus (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), the lesser cornstalk borer, for the EU. The assessment considered entry, establishment, spread and impact.

A multi‐year dormancy strategy in a cabbage beetle population in southeastern China
Our results showed that duration of diapause for adults collected in different years varied from several months to 5 years. Approximately 25.9%–29.2% of individuals showed prolonged diapause over the 5 years of observation. The temperature and photoperiod during induction have a significant influence on the incidence of prolonged diapause. Abstract The

Insect pest management in the age of synthetic biology
Summary Arthropod crop pests are responsible for 20% of global annual crop losses, a figure predicted to increase in a changing climate where the ranges of numerous species are projected to expand. At the same time, many insect species are beneficial, acting as pollinators and predators of pest species.

Evaluation of Popcorn Germplasm for Resistance to Sesamia nonagrioides Attack [PDF]
Popcorn adapted to Spanish conditions could be an interesting and profitable alternative to field corn. However, little is known about breeding popcorn germplasm for adaptation to Spain. Sesamia nonagrioides Lefèvbre is the main insect pest affecting popcorn quality and yield under Spanish growing conditions. The objectives of the study were the search
