Effects of Replacing Alfalfa Hay With Barley Silage in High‐Concentrate Diets: Chewing Behavior, Ruminal Fermentation, Total‐Tract Digestibility, and Milk Production of Dairy Cows in Mid‐Lactation Phase

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
We assessed lactation productivity in dairy cows when replacing alfalfa hay with barley silage. A 50% replacement increased feed intake, whereas total replacement improved nutrient conversion to milk. Barley silage can effectively replace alfalfa hay, enhancing sustainability and resilience in dairy production amid forage quality constraints and market

Medical students' initial experiences of the dissection room and interaction with body donors: A qualitative study of professional identity formation, educational benefits, and the experience of Pasifika students

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The first experience of medical students in the dissecting room (DR) likely influences professional identity formation (PIF). Sparse data exist exploring how exposure to the DR and body donors without undertaking dissection influences PIF, or how culture may influence this experience.

The impact of an immersive virtual reality anatomy lab for informal science education

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The use of virtual reality (VR) in anatomy education enables interactive exploration of the human body and can overcome challenges in informal education settings, such as access to donated human remains and spatial understanding of 3D structures.

Exploring the relationship between entertainment and education in anatomy public engagement: A qualitative examination of anatomists' perspectives

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Entertainment is deeply rooted in education, from wise‐cracking teachers to health documentaries. In the context of anatomy, this already complex relationship is entwined with deeply significant ethical considerations, often related to the field's reliance on human tissue, yet it remains unexplored.

Exploring spatial understanding and cognitive load using ultrasound in learning cardiac anatomy: A pilot study

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Although ultrasound (US) appears to complement traditional anatomy teaching, limited objective data exist on its efficacy. Existing literature often relies on student perceptions rather than performance‐based outcomes. Additionally, the role of spatial understanding (SU)—the ability to mentally manipulate and interpret 3D anatomical ...
