The membrane-bound and soluble forms of HLA-G bind identical sets of endogenous peptides but differ with respect to TAP association

open access: yesImmunity, 1995
The class Ib antigen HLA-G is expressed as a membrane-bound protein like classical class Ia molecules (M.HLA-G) but, unlike typical class I, is also expressed as a soluble protein (S.HLA-G) with a unique C terminus. Our results show that, similar to classical class I proteins, the membrane-bound form of HLA-G associated with TAP, as evidenced by the ...

Flexibility and Dynamicity Enhances and Controls Supramolecular Self‐Assembly of Zinc(II) Metallogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc(II) coordination complexes with tunable aryloxy‐imine ligands exhibit controllable supramolecular self‐assembly into hierarchical fibrous structures. Coordination‐driven stacking, not π–π interactions, enables gelation, dynamic assembly/disassembly, and enhanced nanomechanical properties.

PhoneMD: Learning to Diagnose Parkinson's Disease from Smartphone Data

open access: yes, 2018
Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disease that can affect a person's movement, speech, dexterity, and cognition. Clinicians primarily diagnose Parkinson's disease by performing a clinical assessment of symptoms. However, misdiagnoses are common.

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Non-linear Relationship between BOLD Activation and Amplitude of Beta Oscillations in the Supplementary Motor Area during Rhythmic Finger Tapping and Internal Timing

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2017
Functional imaging studies using BOLD contrasts have consistently reported activation of the supplementary motor area (SMA) both during motor and internal timing tasks.

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

The new hardware trigger processor at NA62 experiment: Status of the System and First Results [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The NA62 experiment is designed to study rare and ultra-rare kaon decays using a decay-in-flight technique. The Trigger and Data Acquisition (TDAQ) system of NA62 is multi-level, making it critically dependent on the performance of the inter-level ...

Expanding Chemical Space of Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles for Tunable Antiviral‐Like Immunomodulatory Responses and Potent Adjuvant Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles

Compaction dynamics of a granular media under vertical tapping

open access: yes, 2002
We report new experimental results on granular compaction under consecutive vertical taps. The evolution of the mean volume fraction and of the mean potential energy of a granular packing presents a slow densification until a final steady-state, and is ...

Programmable DNA‐Peptide Hybrid Nanostructures for Potent Neutralization of Multiple Influenza a Virus Subtypes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multivalent antiviral platform based on honeycomb‐shaped DNA nanostructures (HC–Urumin) is developed to enhance the potency and breadth of the host defense peptide Urumin. Through spatially patterned trimeric presentation, HC–Urumin disrupts influenza A virus entry, improves cell viability, and reduces disease severity in vivo‐offering a modular and ...
