Evolutionary relationships in Panicoid grasses based on plastome phylogenomics (Panicoideae; Poaceae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Panicoideae are the second largest subfamily in Poaceae (grass family), with 212 genera and approximately 3316 species. Previous studies have begun to reveal relationships within the subfamily, but largely lack resolution and/or robust ...

Hyperspectral signatures reveal hidden stress in soybean caused by residual nicosulfuron

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, EarlyView.
Residual nicosulfuron in soil triggers a distinct injury–regulation–collapse trajectory in soybean. Multimodal phenotyping combining hyperspectral, UV‐MCF, and chlorophyll fluorescence imaging enables early, non‐invasive detection and dynamic monitoring of latent herbicide stress, offering a mechanistic basis for risk assessment in crop rotation ...

Overexpression of the Rieske FeS protein of the Cytochrome b6f complex increases C4 photosynthesis in Setaria viridis

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2019
C4 photosynthesis is characterised by a CO2 concentrating mechanism that operates between mesophyll and bundle sheath cells increasing CO2 partial pressure at the site of Rubisco and photosynthetic efficiency. Electron transport chains in both cell types

Setaria viridis and Setaria italica, model genetic systems for the Panicoid grasses [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2011
Setaria italica and its wild ancestor Setaria viridis are diploid C(4) grasses with small genomes of ∼515 Mb. Both species have attributes that make them attractive as model systems. Setaria italica is a grain crop widely grown in Northern China and India that is closely related to the major food and feed crops maize and sorghum.

Single and dual RPA‐CRISPR/Cas assays for point‐of‐need detection of Stewart's wilt pathogen (Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii) of corn and Maize dwarf mosaic virus

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1988-1999, April 2025.
Schematic diagram of the single and dual RPA‐CRISPR/Cas12a/13a diagnostic assays for the detection of Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii and Maize dwarf mosaic virus. The validated assays provide a useful and sensitive molecular tool for detecting two quarantine pathogens of maize within a minimal resource framework suitable for fast‐tracking the ...
