Loose Seton: A Misnomer of Cutting Seton

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to demonstrate loose silk seton actually acts as a slow cutting seton contrary to the idea of simply drainage. Besides, to show the effect of loose seton on patient’s incontinence is mostly proportional to the degree of division of the sphincter muscle.

Una specie di setone stretto intorno allo sfintere lo usava anche Ippocrate (lino e crine di cavallo) nel 500 avanti Cristo. E un secolo prima lo usavano i medici indiani, imbevuto di sostanze medicamentose, come ho scritto prima, una sorta di fistulotomia e fistulectomia lenta combinata. Pensate… la medicina tradizionale orientale!
