2015Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is a tick-borne zoonosis caused by severe fever with thrombocytopenia bunyavirus (SFTSV), a newly discovered bunyavirus. The common clinical symptoms of SFTS include fever, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and multiple organ failure. This disease was firstly identified in China in the year of 2009.

Microbes and Infection, 2015Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging hemorrhagic fever in East Asia with case fatality up to 50%. SFTS is caused by SFTSV, a tick borne bunyavirus. In endemic area in China 1%-3% population was infected with SFTSV, but age is critical risk factor for hospitalization and death of SFTS patients.

2019Since the first SFTS case was retrospectively confirmed in Korea in 2013, SFTS cases have been increasingly detected in the Republic of Korea: From 2013 to 2017 (as of October 31), 595 patients (36 in 2013, 55 in 2014, 79 in 2015, 165 in 2016 and 260 in 2017) including 126 fatal cases were laboratory-confirmed.

2019Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is a novel viral infectious disease with high case fatality rate (CFR). SFTS is caused by a novel phlebovirus, SFTS virus (SFTSV). SFTS, a tick-borne viral infection, was reported to be endemic to central and northeastern China and is also endemic to South Korea and western Japan.
