GASIFICATION OF SEWAGE SLUDGE

open access: yesEnergy Technologies & Resource Saving, 2018
As evidenced by our works as well as a number of other researches, sewage sludge is a renewable biological fuel. But the sludge use is quite problematic due to its high humidity and ash content. To reduce the moisture of the initial mass of the sludge, it is recommended to add dry finely dispersed biomass (saw dust, chopped straw).

Closing the nutrient loop between urban and rural areas: a case study analyzing the technical potential of recycling fertilizers from urban biorefineries

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract The world's population is expected to grow rapidly, with the vast majority of people living in urban areas. Closing nutrient loops is therefore increasingly important for food security and environmental stability. In Germany however, the current treatment of organic and green waste and sewage sludge (derived from wastewater) includes ...

Global trends and challenges in biogas purification and CO2 capture for renewable energy and climate mitigation

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Biogas purification technologies facilitate the production of value‐added products such as biomethane and industrial chemicals. This review was based on the assumption that biogas purification is underrepresented in the literature despite its significant potential for clean energy and greenhouse gas mitigation, warranting a comprehensive ...
