Enhancement of the Plant‐Accessible Phosphate Fraction in Sewage Sludge Ashes by Na+ or K+ Addition Prior to Combustion

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
The addition of Na2CO3 or K2CO3 to sewage sludge prior to combustion leads to the production of ashes containing phosphate in the form of buchwaldite‐like phases (Ca(Na/K)PO4). Compared to conventional sewage sludge mono‐ashes, such Na‐ or K‐ashes show greatly increased P‐solubilities and proved to be potent P‐fertiliser materials in greenhouse ...

Organics Characteristics of Sludge from a Full-Scale Anaerobic Digester Treating Domestic Mixed Sewage Sludge

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Sewage sludge, normally in form of mixed sewage sludge is treated using anaerobic digester worldwide. In Malaysia, sewage sludge was categorized as domestic sewage sludge since sewage treatment plant treats only domestic sewage.

Generating Solar Steam Using Waste Cellulose Fabric: Harnessing Synthetic Yet Plentiful and Cost‐Effective Resources

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
This study develops solar steam generators using waste fabric. Cotton fabric heat‐treated at 400 °C for 1 h exhibits 94.7% light absorbance and an evaporation rate of 2.66 kg (m−2 h−1). The method leverages artificial 3D structures to provide a cost‐effective and sustainable solution for steam generation.

Studies on the Stability and Microbial Biotransformation of Five Deschloroketamine Derivatives as Prerequisite for Wastewater‐Based Epidemiology Screening

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Microbial biotransformation and stability of deschloroketamine derivatives and their metabolites in WW by incubating parent compounds, rat urine, or rat feces showed that deschloroketamine parents and Phase I metabolite were still detectable and that Phase II metabolites decreased in peak areas.

Cobalt Single‐Atom‐Bonded Covalent Heptazine Framework Selectively Generates Nonradicals in Fenton‐Like Catalysis for Rapidly Purifying Organic Wastewater

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
Cobalt single‐atom‐bonded covalent heptazine framework activates peroxymonosulfate to generate 1O2, with the concurrent formation of CoO2+, for wastewater treatment. ABSTRACT Engineering the coordination architecture of cobalt single‐atom catalysts (Co‐SACs) represents a promising strategy to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for sewage purification. In

Seascape configuration determines spatial patterns of seabird‐vectored nutrient enrichment to coral reefs

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Pelagic‐feeding seabirds deliver nutrient subsidies that enhance the productivity, biodiversity, and resilience of terrestrial and marine ecosystems, particularly in nutrient‐poor tropical environments. However, the biogeophysical variables governing the fluxes of these nutrients within and among interconnected ecosystems remain poorly understood.
