Maternal gut microbiota‐derived daidzein prevents osteoporosis in female offspring following prenatal prednisone exposure

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Prenatal prednisone therapy (PPT)/prenatal prednisone exposure (PPE) induces long bone dysplasia, reduced peak bone mass (PBM), and increased osteoporosis susceptibility in female offspring. Maternal gut microbiota metabolite daidzein (DAI) mediates PPE‐induced osteoporosis susceptibility in female adult offspring.

Pathological tau signatures and nuclear alterations in neurons, astrocytes and microglia in Alzheimer's disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, and dementia with Lewy bodies

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 33, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Schematic depicting characterization of pathological tau signatures and nuclear alterations in neurons, astrocytes and microglia in neurodegenerative diseases. Abstract Accumulation of pathological tau aggregates is a prominent feature in tauopathies that leads during the course of the diseases to neuronal dysfunction before and cell death after ...

Pyriproxyfen Disrupts the Ongoing Spermatogenesis Wave in Danio rerio Potentially Mediated by Voltage‐Dependent Calcium Channels and Protein Kinase C

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pyriproxyfen (PPX) is an analog of the juvenile hormone from insects. Following our previous studies, for the ex vivo short‐term effect, we chose 10−9 M pyriproxyfen to analyze the morphology of spermatogenesis wave cells. In silico docking and ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, Toxicity) studies were carried out to ...

Understanding how chromatin folding and enzyme competition affect rugged epigenetic landscapes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Epigenetics plays a key role in cellular differentiation and maintaining cell identity, enabling cells to regulate their genetic activity without altering the DNA sequence. Epigenetic regulation occurs within the context of hierarchically folded chromatin, yet the interplay between the dynamics of epigenetic modifications and chromatin architecture ...

Phase transitions in chromatin: mesoscopic and mean-field approaches [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
By means of a minimal physical model, we investigate the interplay of two phase transitions at play in chromatin organization: (1) liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) within the fluid solvating chromatin, resulting in the formation of biocondensates, and (2) the coil-globule crossover of the chromatin fiber, which drives the condensation or extension

Atopic Dermatitis in Childhood and Biomarkers of Male Reproductive Health: A Danish National Birth Cohort Study

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
This study found no indication of an adverse effect of childhood atopic dermatitis on biomarkers of male reproductive health. On the contrary, we observed some indications of slightly higher sperm concentration and lower follicle‐stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH).

Association of SIRT6 Expression With Risk of Pneumonitis Induced by Radiotherapy in Cancer Patients

open access: yesMolecular Carcinogenesis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Thoracic tumours represent a significant proportion of malignant cancers. While radiotherapy (RT) improves prognosis, it can also lead to side effects such as radiation‐induced pneumonitis (RP). Since SIRT6 is involved in DNA repair, energy metabolism and inflammation, this study aims to investigate the expression of SIRT6 in lymphocytes as a ...

Sex chromosome evolution: The classical paradigm and so much beyond [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Sex chromosomes have independently evolved in species with separate sexes in most lineages across the tree of life. However, the well-accepted canonical model of sex chromosome evolution is not universally supported. There is no single trajectory for sex chromosome formation and evolution across the tree of life, suggesting the underlying mechanisms ...

Copy Number Variation and Haplotype Analysis of 17q21.31 Reveals Increased Risk Associated with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Gene Expression Changes in Neuronal Cells

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The 17q21.31 region with various structural forms characterized by the H1/H2 haplotypes and three large copy number variations (CNVs) represents the strongest risk locus in progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). Objective To investigate the association between CNVs and structural forms on 17q.21.31 with the risk of PSP.

The single-cell chromatin landscape in gonadal cell lineage specification

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Gonad development includes sex determination and divergent maturation of the testes and ovaries. Recent advances in measuring gene expression in single cells are providing new insights into this complex process.
