Sex Determination by Discriminant Function Analysis of Lumbar Vertebrae
Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2014AbstractSex determination is critical for developing the biological profile of unidentified skeletal remains. When more commonly used elements (os coxa, cranium) for sexing are not available, methods utilizing other skeletal elements are needed. This study aims to assess the degree of sexual dimorphism of the lumbar vertebrae and develop discriminant ...

RAPD Analysis for Sex Determination in Pistacia vera L.
2014Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis of Pistacia vera L. was used to distinguishing sex type in progeny plants. Varied genotypes of the pistachio were analyzed by PCR amplification of a ten base primer previously found to be linked to the expression of a 945bp amplification band in female trees and its absence in males.

The genome of Areca catechu provides insights into sex determination of monoecious plants.
New Phytologist, 2022The areca palm (Areca catechu) has a monoecious spadix, with male flowers on the apical side and females on the basal side. Here, we applied the multi-omics analysis to investigate the sex determination and floral organ development in areca palms.

Sex determination by discriminant analysis of patella measurements
Forensic Science International, 1998The authors have analyzed 80 skeletons (40 males and 40 females) from the collection at the Institute of Legal Medicine of the University of Bari belonging to a known contemporary Southern Italian population; time of death was around 1970 and ages ranged from 25 to 80 years.
