Distribution of sexes in cattle

Journal of Heredity, 1979
Data were obtained from records of 1,046 Holstein dams included in the dairy herd at Cornell University during the years 1940 through 1977. Sex by order of parity was determined for the offspring of each dam. The overall sex ratio for 4,245 single parities was 52.74 percent males. Sex ratios for different parities were relatively consistent.

Multinomial Distribution and Ascertainment by Sex

Biometrical Journal, 1982
AbstractNew ascertainment models taking into account partitioning by sex and without any constraint concerning dominance of alleles are proposed. These originate beginning from two major pathways. The first pathway assumes independence and that the family sizes for both males and females are known.

The sex distribution of children in care

Journal of Adolescence, 1985
It is shown that there is a substantial and sustained disparity, both on a national and on a regional basis, between the numbers of males and the numbers of females in care. The disparity is analysed by examining the reasons for entering care, and the legal status of those in care. It is shown that in the aggregate the disparity is caused by imbalances

Sex Distribution in Sibships

Australian & New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, 1971
There is available an extensive literature relating to birth order and its possible effect on the incidence of psychiatric disorder, on character, or on patterns of personality development. Little attention has been given to the distribution of sex within sibships. A study is reported on the sibships of 400 consecutive psychiatric admissions.

Convergence of human age-sex distributions to an equilibrium-state age-sex distribution

Theoretical Population Biology, 1979
Abstract The main concern of the paper is to investigate the effects of introducing migration into the process of population growth using an overall net migration rate and an age-sex composition of net migrants (i.e., the net number of migrants) as compared with the case in which there is no migration.
