Resistance to Axial Traction Decreases Over Time Following Repaired Periportal Capsulotomies During Hip Arthroscopy

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Purpose To determine if distraction distance changes on an axial traction examination between the time zero capsular repair state and a later follow‐up traction examination in patients with staged bilateral hip arthroscopies for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome.

Glucagon‐Like Peptide‐1 Receptor Agonist Use in Obese Patients Is Associated With Decreased Risk of Revision and Retears After Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Purpose To evaluate the impact of preoperative glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonist (GLP‐1 RA) use on medical complications, emergency department use, and orthopaedic complications in obese patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Methods Obese patients (defined by relevant ICD‐10 codes and confirmed by body mass index measurements ...

Editorial Commentary: May the Force Be With You—Preoperative Strength Is the Rotator Cuff Retear Predictor We Can Actually Train

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Predicting the clinical course of rotator cuff repairs is one of the most significant and unresolved challenges in shoulder surgery. Most established predictors of retear (e.g., advanced age, fatty infiltration, large tear size, and tendon retraction) are nonmodifiable—already set prior to the time the patient arrives in the operating room ...

Genomic Structural Variations Provide Insights Into Litter Size and Teat Number Traits in Hu Sheep

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Here, we conducted whole genome sequencing on 300 Hu sheep with an average depth of 16.51X. Two candidate genes associated with litter size and teat number traits were identified, namely MAST2 and AFDN. ABSTRACT Litter size and the teat number are important economic indicators in sheep production.
