Sexual revictimisation: individual, interpersonal and contextual factors [PDF]

open access: yes
People who have been sexually abused as children are two to three times more likely to be sexually revictimised in adolescence and/or adulthood. This paper explores the complex array of variables related to sexual revictimisation.

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Male coercion and convenience polyandry in a calopterygid damselfly

open access: yesJournal of Insect Science, 2002
Copulation in odonates requires female cooperation because females must raise their abdomen to allow intromission. Nevertheless in Calopteryx haemorrhoidalis haemorrhoidalis (Odonata) males commonly grasp ovipositing females and apparently force ...

Restorative Justice for the Girl Child in Post-conflict Rwanda [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The girl child suffers from both sexism and “childism” for she is at the intersection of women’s rights and children’s rights. The question of her fate in post-conflict Rwanda is particularly crucial for during the Rwandan genocide in 1994, she suffered ...

Fluid and Neuroimaging Biomarkers in Microgliopathy Colony‐Stimulating Factor‐1 Receptor‐Related Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aims to identify both fluid and neuroimaging biomarkers for CSF1R‐RD that can inform the optimal timing of treatment administration to maximize therapeutic benefit, while also providing sensitive quantitative measurements to monitor disease progression.

Genetic Relatedness Promotes Equal Contributions of Males and Females to Brood Care in a Biparental Cichlid Fish

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Kin discrimination, that is, the differential treatment of kin and nonkin has been studied in a wide range of social contexts because kin selection theory predicts that genetic relatedness among interacting individuals can reduce conflicts and promote ...

Exploratory Analysis of ELP1 Expression in Whole Blood From Patients With Familial Dysautonomia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Familial dysautonomia (FD) is a hereditary neurodevelopmental disorder caused by aberrant splicing of the ELP1 gene, leading to a tissue‐specific reduction in ELP1 protein expression. Preclinical models indicate that increasing ELP1 levels can mitigate disease manifestations.
