Impact of Renin‐Angiotensin System Inhibitors on Renal Function During Temporary Ileostomy Period in Rectal Cancer Patients: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This retrospective study explored the potential impact of renin–angiotensin system inhibitors (RASIs) on renal function during the ileostomy period in patients undergoing rectal cancer surgery. Functional Advantage of Central Pancreatectomy Over Distal Pancreatectomy for Benign or Low‐Grade Malignant Tumors: A Comparative Analysis Based on 75‐g Oral Glucose Tolerance Test

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Central pancreatectomy (CP) better preserves postoperative pancreatic endocrine function than distal pancreatectomy for benign or low‐grade malignant tumors. The 75‐g oral glucose tolerance test demonstrated that CP maintained insulin secretion and glucose tolerance, highlighting its clinical advantage as a function‐preserving procedure.

The National Clinical Database Risk Calculator and the 5‐Item Modified Frailty Index Predict the Development of Postoperative Delirium After Surgery for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that combining the NCD Risk Calculator with the mFI‐5 enables more precise stratification of postoperative delirium risk in patients undergoing surgery for HCC. Patients classified as high risk by the combined model showed a markedly higher incidence of delirium than those in the intermediate‐ and low‐risk groups.
