Associação genética da prenhez aos 16 meses com o peso à desmama e o ganho de peso em animais da raça Nelore Genetic associations of heifer pregnancy at 16 months with weaning weight and average daily gain from weaning to yearling in Nellore cattle

Steroidopathies and hormonal imbalance in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition with a multifactorial etiology, many aspects of which remain unclear. Emerging evidence suggests a potential association between ASD and clinical manifestations resulting from hormonal imbalances, henceforth named “steroidopathies.” The present study aims to ...

Screening for Mutations of 21-Hydroxylase Gene in Hungarian Patients with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of autosomal recessive disorders, causing impaired secretion of cortisol and aldosterone from the adrenal cortex, with subsequent overproduction of adrenal androgens.

Juvenile hormone‐mediated accelerated post‐flight recovery of ovarian development in Loxostege sticticalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae)

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, EarlyView.
Flight in female beet webworms (Loxostege sticticalis) promotes an increase in feeding, thereby enhancing abdominal energy reserves. Following flight, the flight muscles undergo accelerated histolysis, and the energy substances undergoing histolysis are redirected to the ovaries. These two processes collectively promote ovarian development.

Maternal pre-pregnancy obesity and timing of puberty in sons and daughters: a population-based cohort study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundIn many countries, an increased prevalence of obesity in pregnancy has coincided with a declining pubertal age. We aimed to explore the potential effect of maternal pre-pregnancy overweight and obesity on timing of puberty in sons and daughters.

Early life exploration behaviour and life‐history loci are colocalized in an adaptive genomic hotspot in Atlantic salmon

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
The genetic architecture of phenotypic correlations offers insights into how natural selection operates in the wild. Two functional phenotypes in Atlantic salmon, early life exploration and age‐at‐maturity, are correlated at an adaptive genomic hotspot, but through distinct genetic markers (SNPs), ruling out causality.

Analysis of the differentially expressed genes in the combs and testes of Qingyuan partridge roosters at different developmental stages

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background The sexual maturity of chickens is an important economic trait, and the breeding of precocious and delayed puberty roosters is an important selection strategy for broilers.

International Guideline on the Diagnosis and Management of Pediatric Patients With Hereditary Angioedema

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hereditary angioedema (HAE) with C1 inhibitor deficiency is a rare disease characterized by unpredictable episodes of tissue swelling (angioedema), which, in most cases, occur first under the age of 18 years, and entail a significant burden of disease not only for the patients but also for their families.
