Diffusion‐Weighted Imaging for the Evaluation of the Sacroiliac Joint in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Background Maturational signal in the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) of skeletally immature youth is often misinterpreted as inflammation. Diagnostic tools that improve specificity are greatly needed. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values from diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI), when used with standard imaging, may enhance diagnostic accuracy.

Sedimentary chydorid (Cladocera) ephippia in relation to lake ecological quality in the Austrian Alps

open access: yesJournal of Limnology, 2013
Research on chydorid (Crustacea: Cladocera: Chydoridae) reproduction is scarce and very little is known about the dynamics of parthenogenetic (asexual) and gamogenetic (sexual) reproduction modes in these cyclical parthenogens.

The relative importance of sexual and clonal reproduction for population growth in the perennial herb Fragaria vesca [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The relative importance of sexual and clonal reproduction for population growth in clonal plants is highly variable. Clonal reproduction is often more important than sexual reproduction but there is considerable interspecific variation and the importance

Sex and recombination in the H\"otzel aging model

open access: yes, 2003
Why sex evolved and it prevails in nature remains one of the great puzzles of evolution. Most biologists would explain that it promotes genetic variability, however this explanation suffers from several difficulties. What advantages might sex confer? The

Matrix Tropism Influences Endometriotic Cell Attachment Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of substrate stiffness and multicellular coculture on endometriotic cell attachment to extracellular matrix‐laden microarrayed islands is reported. This model investigates early endometriotic cell attachment, aiming to capture “lesion initiation events”.

Human Endometrial Extracellular Matrix Hydrogel Facilitated Endometrial Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Endometrial Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Adequate thickness of the uterine lining is crucial for women with thin or damaged endometrium to achieve pregnancies. Endometrial mesenchymal stem cells (eMSC) can facilitate the cyclical repair and regeneration of the human endometrium. In this study, the human endometrium derived extracellular matrix hydrogel supports the growth of eMSC promoting ...

Atypical centrioles during sexual reproduction

open access: yesFront. Cell Dev. Biol., 2015
Centrioles are conserved, self-replicating, microtubule-based, 9-fold symmetric subcellular organelles that are essential for proper cell division and function.

Preliminary Observations on spawning potential in the striped bass (Roccus saxatilis Walbaum) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1952
This study was initiated during the summer of 1940 with the following objectives: (1) To determine at what age sexual maturity begins in striped bass of the Chesapeake Bay.
