Scientists’ warning on the global destruction of rock outcrop ecosystems

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Rock outcrops are geological formations that harbor a highly specialized biota adapted to harsh environmental conditions that differ from their surrounding landscapes. They are globally distributed, especially in old, highly weathered landscapes, and can function as habitat islands containing high levels of endemism and distinct evolutionary ...

Successful phased‐release reintegration of captive‐origin cheetah for metapopulation supplementation

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
Conservation programs increasingly require consideration of rehabilitated individuals for translocations to reduce pressure on highly threatened wild populations. This case‐study evaluates the short‐term translocation success of captive‐origin cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) after phased‐release reintegration into the wild in South Africa.

Atopic dermatitis is associated with herpes zoster in adults – A matched cohort study using electronic health records data in England

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.

Insulin, Semaglutide and Dapagliflozin in Adults With Type 1 Diabetes: Design and Methods of Triple Therapy for Type 1 Diabetes (TTT1)—An International Phase 3 Clinical Trial

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Attaining target glycaemia can be a challenge in Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) due to insulin‐induced weight gain. Adjunct therapy with modern glucose‐lowering agents developed for type 2 diabetes (T2D) has great potential but may be insufficiently efficacious and carries risks of hypoglycaemia and ketosis.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up Incidence of Type 1 Diabetes and Associated Autoimmune Diseases in First‐Degree Relatives

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background First‐degree relatives (FDRs) of individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) carry a significantly elevated risk of developing autoimmune diseases, including celiac disease (CD) and autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD). The DiaUnion 1.0 study aimed to characterize one‐time autoantibodies, genetic risk profiles and long‐term progression to ...
