A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

The Agent-Based Model and Simulation of Sexual Selection and Pair Formation Mechanisms
In this paper, the agent-based simulation model of sexual selection and pair formation mechanisms is proposed. Sexual selection is a mechanism that occurs when the numbers of individuals of both sexes are almost identical, while reproduction costs for ...

Sexual Selection by the Handicap Mechanism [PDF]
The handicap mechanism of sexual selection by female choice has been strongly criticized because it does not cause sexual selection to reinforce viability selection and it cannot account for the origin of mating preferences. However, several models indicate that the handicap mechanism can have important effects when operating in conjunction with Fisher'

Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

Although it is often expected that adverse environmental conditions depress the expression of condition-dependent sexually selected traits, the full consequences of environmental change for the action of sexual selection, in terms of the opportunity for ...

Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

The Handicap Principle in Sexual Selection [PDF]
The theory of the selection of epigamic color, structure and behavior was originally due to Darwin (1874) and was later elaborated by Fisher (1930) and by O'Donald (1962, 1963, 1967). It is well known and is discussed below. An alternative account of this type of sexual selection has been suggested recently by Zahavi (1975).

The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Selection on male and female reproductive traits in a simultaneous hermaphrodite land snail [PDF]
Classical sexual selection theory assumes that the reproductive success of females is limited by the resources available for egg production, while the reproductive success of males is determined by the number of mates (Bateman’s principle).

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...
