SF-6D Portuguese population norms
The European Journal of Health Economics, 2014Population-based norms are important because they provide benchmarks that allow the interpretation of subgroups of population health, comparisons between studies, information on health inequalities and support for health-care interventions. The SF-6D is a preference-based measure of health, the use of which has been increasing throughout the world ...

SF-6D Values Stratified by Specific Diagnostic Indication
Spine, 2012Longitudinal cohort. To present Oswestry Disability Index scores and SF-6D utility values among patients with different diagnostic etiologies who underwent fusion surgery.Several studies have increased our understanding of health-related quality-of-life measures in patients with low back pain.

The SF-6D Health Utility Index in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Journal of Hand Surgery (European Volume), 2007Cost effectiveness is an important factor to consider when choosing between various hand surgical interventions. Health utility measures can be used to determine cost effectiveness. The SF-6D is a health utility index derived from 11 items of the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire; values range from 0.296 to 1.0 (“perfect” health).

ABSTRACTThe derivation of population norms using simple generic health‐related quality of life measures to inform policy has been recommended in the literature. This letter illustrates the derivation of population norms for the SF‐6D in the United Kingdom.

Comparison of EQ-5D and SF-6D utilities in Pompe disease
Quality of Life Research, 2014Comparative studies between Euroqol-5D (EQ-5D) and ShortForm 6D (SF-6D) utilities have been performed for a number of diseases, but not yet for orphan diseases. Pompe disease is an orphan disease with a prevalence of

The Discriminative Properties of the SF-6D Compared With the SF-36 and ODI
Spine, 2013Longitudinal cohort. To determine the discriminate validity of the Short Form-6D (SF-6D) compared with the SF-36 in a cohort of patients with lumbar degenerative disorders.Cost-utility studies are important for the demonstration of comparative effectiveness of treatments for lumbar degenerative disorders.

Reducing the Floor Effect in the SF-6D: A Feasibility Study
Applied Research in Quality of Life, 2011The SF-6D suffers from a floor effect where for patient groups in severe health a significant number of patients report the lowest level of health possible for some dimensions, meaning the SF-6D cannot capture a deterioration in health for these patients. This paper presents a feasibility study aimed at reducing this floor effect.

Valuing SF-6D Health States Using a Discrete Choice Experiment
Medical Decision Making, 2013Background. SF-6D utility weights are conventionally produced using a standard gamble (SG). SG-derived weights consistently demonstrate a floor effect not observed with other elicitation techniques. Recent advances in discrete choice methods have allowed estimation of utility weights.

A comparison of the discriminative and evaluative properties of the SF-36 and the SF-6D index
Quality of Life Research, 2011To examine whether the move from the multidimensional SF-36 patient-reported outcome measure to the single-index preference-based SF-6D entails a loss in discriminative and evaluative properties, the magnitude of that loss and whether it matters.Retrospective analysis of data from studies that used the SF-36 and the derived SF-6D.

An empirical comparison of EQ‐5D and SF‐6D in liver transplant patients
Health Economics, 2003AbstractThere remains disagreement about the preferred utility‐based measure of health‐related quality of life for use in constructing quality‐adjusted life years (QALYs). The recent development of a new measure, the SF‐6D, has highlighted this issue. The SF‐6D and EuroQol EQ‐5D measure health‐related utilities on a scale where 0 represents death and 1
