A six-part collisional model of the main asteroid belt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this work, we construct a new model for the collisional evolution of the main asteroid belt. Our goals are to test the scaling law of Benz and Asphaug (1999) and ascertain if it can be used for the whole belt.

Stimuli‐Responsive Afterglow from Luminescent Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 7, 2 February 2026.
An active glow luminescent system for encoding, signaling, and tracking in dark environments has been developed by integrating inorganic ultralong afterglow phosphors with adaptive liquid crystal elastomer actuators. Abstract Stimuli‐responsive luminescent polymeric materials which combine afterglow emission with mechanical flexibility and adaptability

On the relation between boundary proposals and hidden symmetries of the extended pre-big bang quantum cosmology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A framework associating quantum cosmological boundary conditions to minisuperspace hidden symmetries has been introduced in \cite{7}. The scope of the application was, notwithstanding the novelty, restrictive because it lacked a discussion involving ...

Coupling Aqueous Phase Chemical Actinometry with EPR Spectroscopy: An Approach for Probing Photochemical Processes at the Air–Sea Interface

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 3, February 2026.
Photochemical investigations were coupled with radical detection for quantifying oxidative processes in sea‐surface microlayer (SML) samples. A chemical actinometry approach was employed to measure photon flux in in situ EPR experiments and under solar irradiation.

Bidirectional Effects of Acceleration on Rotor–SFD System: Dynamic Analysis Based on Imbalance Condition Differences

open access: yesTechnologies
The rotor is a crucial component in rotating machinery, where its stability directly impacts performance and safety. Imbalance-induced vibrations can cause severe component wear, resonance instability, and even catastrophic failures, especially in high ...

The Formation of Jupiter, the Jovian Early Bombardment and the Delivery of Water to the Asteroid Belt: The Case of (4) Vesta

open access: yes, 2014
The asteroid (4) Vesta, parent body of the Howardite-Eucrite-Diogenite meteorites, is one of the first bodies that formed, mostly from volatile-depleted material, in the Solar System. The Dawn mission recently provided evidence that hydrated material was

Zooplankton Assemblage Structure of the Lower Mississippi River and Floodplain in Relation to Site Hydrological Connection

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, Volume 42, Issue 2, Page 400-414, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The pattern of flow or hydrological connection between a river's main channel and its floodplain can vary seasonally and spatially in frequency, duration, direction, and magnitude. Such variation is expected to promote habitat and biotic diversity.

Extraction of Lead from Hydrometallurgical Processing of Copper Shaft Flue Dust

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
Pyrometallurgical copper production is carried out in thermal aggregates. Input waste materials with a copper content between 5% and 99% Cu are treated in the individual aggregates.

Filgotinib Is an Effective and Safe Treatment Option for Difficult‐To‐Treat Ulcerative Colitis: Real‐World Evidence of the Dutch Initiative on Crohn and Colitis (ICC) Registry

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, Volume 14, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Filgotinib is a preferential Janus kinase 1 (JAK‐1) inhibitor registered for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC). Real‐world effectiveness of filgotinib, especially for difficult‐to‐treat (DTT, failure of ≥ 2 prior advanced therapies) patients, has been scarcely reported.

The GRB/SN Connection: An Improved Spectral Flux Distribution for the Supernova Candidate Associated with GRB 970228

open access: yes, 1999
We better determine the spectral flux distribution of the supernova candidate associated with GRB 970228 by modeling the spectral flux distribution of the host galaxy of this burst, fitting this model to measurements of the host galaxy, and using the ...
