Evaluation of structure from motion (SfM) photogrammetry on the measurement of rill and interrill erosion in a typical loess

Geomorphology, 2021
Structure from Motion (SfM) photogrammetry is a cost-effective topographic survey tool capable of producing high-quality 3-dimensional structure of a landform.

SfM‐MVS Photogrammetry for Splash Erosion Monitoring under Natural Rainfall

Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, 2021
AbstractAn understanding of splash erosion is the basis to describe the impact of rain characteristics on soil disturbance. In typical splash cup experiments, splashed soil is collected, filtered, and weighed. As a way to collect additional data, our experiments have been supplemented by a photogrammetric approach.

Semi-automated discrete-element modelling of arch structures incorporating SfM photogrammetry

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Engineering History and Heritage, 2023
This paper presents Image2DEM, a framework for the semi-automated structural analysis of arches. Numerical models of arch specimens were semi-automatically developed from structure-from-motion (SfM) photogrammetry, by employing image-processing techniques, to bypass laborious computer-aided design (Cad)-based processes.

3D Reconstruction of Residential Areas with SfM Photogrammetry

2018
Photogrammetry is the use of two dimensional (2D) images to provide measurement data. Photogrammetry uses a procedure referred to as “Structure from Motion” (SfM) to solve feature positions within a defined coordinate system. SfM photogrammetry offers the possibility of fast, automated and low-cost 3D data acquisition.

Above-ground biomass estimation of arable crops using UAV-based SfM photogrammetry

Geocarto International, 2020
Methods of estimating the total amount of above-ground biomass (AGB) in crop fields are generally based on labourious, random, and destructive in situ sampling.

Mapping snow depth and spatial variability using SFM photogrammetry of UAV images over rugged mountainous regions of the Western Himalaya

Geocarto International, 2022
Accurate snow depth observations are one of the most important inputs in the process of avalanche hazard estimation, forecasting, and mitigation. This study presents the high-resolution snow depth mapping of avalanche-prone regions of the Manali–Dhundi ...

Automated co‐registration and calibration in SfM photogrammetry for landslide change detection

Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, 2018
AbstractLandslides represent hazardous phenomena, often with significant implications. Monitoring landslides with time‐series surface observations can indicate surface failure. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) employing compact digital cameras, in conjunction with structure‐from‐motion (SfM) and multi‐view stereo (MVS) image processing approaches, have ...

Professional SfM and TLS vs a simple SfM photogrammetry for 3D modelling of rock art and radiance scaling shading in engraving detection

Journal of Cultural Heritage, 2019
The geometric inventory and documentation of rock art present great challenges due to the high number of petroglyphs present in a territory, the distance between them, the state of abandonment of forest areas in many cases, limitations to access, and the
