Using long-term data from a whole ecosystem warming experiment to identify best spring and autumn phenology models. [PDF]
Here, we leverage multiyear interannual variability in climate with an experimental whole‐ecosystem warming approach to identify model structures that are best suited to predicting phenological changes and future climate scenarios. In spring, seven equally best‐performing models for Larix utilized the accumulation of growing degree days as a common ...

Significance Statement It is unknown how antiviral immunity is conferred in the case of extreme resistance. We show that extreme resistance correlates with a translational arrest of viral transcripts and can be uncoupled from the hypersensitive response, which was observed to not be required for viral immunity.

Summary Pm1a, the first powdery mildew resistance gene described in wheat, is part of a complex resistance (R) gene cluster located in a distal region of chromosome 7AL that has suppressed genetic recombination. A nucleotide‐binding, leucine‐rich repeat (NLR) immune receptor gene was isolated using mutagenesis and R gene enrichment sequencing ...

Nonribosomal Peptides Produced by Minimal and Engineered Synthetases with Terminal Reductase Domains
Peptide aldehyde production: An aldehyde‐releasing reductase (R) domain has been identified as part of a minimal nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) in X. indica. We also show that the R domain from the tilivalline‐producing NRPS can be used in engineered synthetases to introduce an aldehyde group and subsequently produce natural and unnatural ...

Partial Polarization in Interfered Plasmon Fields
We describe the polarization features for plasmon fields generated by the interference between two elemental surface plasmon modes, obtaining a set of Stokes parameters which allows establishing a parallelism with the traditional polarization model. With the analysis presented, we find the corresponding coherence matrix for plasmon fields incorporating

This paper proposes an active postfilter based on two Buck converters, connected in parallel, operating in complementary interleaving. In such a configuration the ripple in the load current could be virtually eliminated to improve the power quality in comparison with classical Point‐Of‐Load (POL) regulators based on a single Buck converter.

Using LanM Enzymes to Modify Glucagon‐Like Peptides 1 and 2 in E.coli
Peptides serve as important drugs but suffer from short lifetimes in circulation. The lifetime can be extended by installing chemical modifications, but these can be expensive to incorporate. We show that production, as well as modifications with non‐proteogenic amino acids, can be accomplished in E.coli by exploiting enzymes involved in the ...

Significance Statement We show that PPR‐type organelle RNA editing factors can principally also function in the plant cytosol but that their lack of targeting specificity likely restricts their occurrence in nature to chloroplasts and mitochondria. Our new approach of induced cytosolic expression will allow to much better characterize the RNA‐targeting

Abstract We examined the seasonality of photosynthesis in 46 evergreen needleleaf (evergreen needleleaf forests (ENF)) and deciduous broadleaf (deciduous broadleaf forests (DBF)) forests across North America and Eurasia. We quantified the onset and end (StartGPP and EndGPP) of photosynthesis in spring and autumn based on the response of net ecosystem ...
