Passive Strain Sensor using SH-SAW Reflective Delay Line

open access: closedFerroelectrics, 2006
A shear horizontal-mode surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) has the unique characteristic of complete reflection at a free edge normal to the direction of propagation, making it possible to construct a reflective delay line. A passive SAW strain sensor based on such a reflective delay line is presented.

PM2.5 detection by cyclone separator combined with SH-SAW sensor

open access: closed2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems (NEMS), 2017
In this research, a particulate matter PM2.5 monitoring device is designed and developed, including the shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) sensor combined with a cyclone separator. Aerosols generated by incense smoke will be separated and sampled inside the designed cyclone separator first, and the sampled PM2.5 particles will be ...

380MHz SH-SAW biosensors

2014 IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium (FCS), 2014
The velocity and attenuation changes of shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) biosensors with viscosity changes as a function of the operating frequencies are studied. It is confirmed that the velocity and attenuation changes of SH-SAW biosensors to the viscous changes are proportional to the square root of the frequency using the numerical ...

SH-SAW biosensor on quartz

2016 IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium (IFCS), 2016
This paper describes a shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) immunoassay biosensor on a quartz substrate. The SH-SAW biosensor is a 250MHz SH-SAW delay-line which has a gold surface covered with antibodies. It is important to discuss the detection mechanism of SH-SAW biosensors on quartz.

Enzyme-immobilized SH-SAW biosensor

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 1994
Abstract A shear horizontal mode surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) device has many attractions for chemical-sensing applications in liquid media. The SH-SAW that propagates on 36° rotated Y-cute, X-propagating LiTaO3 is affected by a strong acoustoelectric interaction between the piezoelectric potential and electric properties of the adjacent liquid ...

SH-SAW Sensor for Superfluid 3He

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2005
We have developed a new technique to study the transverse acoustic properties of superfluid 3He, employing a shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) sensor. The transverse acoustic impedance can be obtained from the velocity and damping of SH-SAW which acoustically couples with liquid 3He all the interface. Since ultrasonic measurements provide

Liquid Identification Using SH-saw Sensors

Proceedings of the International Solid-State Sensors and Actuators Conference - TRANSDUCERS '95, 2005
The objective of this paper is to present a new application of shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SHSAW) devices on 36" rotated Y-cut X-propagating LiTaOs for a sensing system that can identify liquid samples. Theoretical sensor sensitivity for acoustoelectric interaction with a liquid loaded on the SAW propagation surface was derived and ...

A novel SH-SAW sensor system

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2005
This work has investigated some methods to solve the problems of non-steady operation and temperature interference which were easy to find in the shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) sensing applications such as the gas sensor, liquid sensor and immunosensor. A programmable PLL circuit and independent LO input were applied to the multi-mixer
