Point-of-care SH-SAW biosensor
2010 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2010This paper describes a two-channel liquid-phase shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) immunoassay biosensor. The sensor device was designed using a 250MHz SH-SAW delay-line on Quartz substrates, which is composed of a transmitting and receiving transducers and a biochemical reaction area in between them.

Development of SH-SAW sensors for underwater measurement
Ultrasonics, 2004We developed SH (shear horizontal) surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors to detect protein molecules in liquid solutions applying a particular antibody thin film on the delay line of transverse SAW devices. The antibody investigated was human-immuno-globulin G (HigG) to hold the antigens (anti-HigG) in the protein solution to be measured.

SH-SAW biosensor based on pH change
1993 Proceedings IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 1993This paper describes an enzyme-immobilized biosensor using a surface acoustic wave (SAW) device fabricated on 36d rotated Y-cut, X-propagating LiTaO3. The sensing wave on the substrate is a predominantly shear-horizontal-mode SAW (SH-SAW) and is affected by a strong acoustoelectric interaction between the electric field and electric properties of the ...

Simulation for viscoelastic effects of SH-SAW biosensor
2014 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2014This paper describes a simulation for the shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) immunoassay biosensor on quartz. A simulation method which was proposed by Campbell and Jones has been generally used to calculate SH-SAW propagation characteristics. In the analysis of the bioreactions with mass loading, the sensitivities of SH-SAW biosensors are

Novel SH-SAW gas sensor based on graphene
SPIE Proceedings, 2015In this article, a novel gas sensor platform has been studied. Several layers of graphene have been deposited on a SH-SAW, as a sensitive layer. Innovative methods of graphene solutions have been prepared in order to explore gas sensing applications. The real time detection measurement of the coated sensor under ethanol and humidity is presented.

Pure SH-SAW propagation, transduction and measurements on KNbO/sub 3/
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2006Potassium niobate (KNbO3) supports the electromechanically active pure shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) mode along Z-axis cylinder orientations, Euler angles (phi, 90 degrees, 0 degrees), in which two uncoupled wave solutions exist: a purely mechanical sagittal Rayleigh SAW and a piezoelectrically stiffened pure SH-SAW.

SH-SAW taste sensor based on acoustoelectric interaction
1993 Proceedings IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 1993This paper aims at discussing an application of SH-SAW devices on 36d rotated Y cut, X-propagating LiTaO3 to a taste sensor for identifying liquid samples. Theoretical sensor sensitivity for the acoustoelectric interaction with a liquid-loading on the SAW propagation surface was derived. The results strongly suggested that by employing different center

Evaluation of SH-SAW Biosensor in Whole Blood
2018 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2018This report introduces potentials of shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) biosensor in point-of-care-testing (POCT) applications. In realizing POCT devices, SH-SAW biosensor has many technical features which enables a simple structure to reduce device costs and an easy operation to reduce workloads.

Guided SH-SAW sensors for liquid-phase detection
Proceedings of the 2001 IEEE International Frequncy Control Symposium and PDA Exhibition (Cat. No.01CH37218), 2002The design and performance of guided shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (guided SH-SAW) devices on LiTaO/sub 3/ substrates are investigated for high sensitivity biochemical sensor in liquids. The device sensitivity to mass and viscoelastic loading is increased using a thin guiding layer of (cross-linked or cured) poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) or

Development of SH-SAW Sensing System for Liquids
2007 IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium Joint with the 21st European Frequency and Time Forum, 2007Developments of sensors using surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices have been attractive. A shear horizontal SAW (SH-SAW) sensor can detect liquid properties and chemical reactions in liquid. For practical applications of the SAW sensor, it is necessary to discuss its properties.
