P4J-3 Dip-Type Liquid-Phase Sensor Using SH-SAW

2007 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium Proceedings, 2007
This paper describes an SH-SAW based sensor device which can be directly dipped into a liquid. The sensor device is composed of a two-channel SH-SAW delay line on a 36Y-X LiTaO3. Those IDTs are surrounded with epoxy walls with a 50 mum height and a 160 mum thickness.

Investigation of SH-SAW sensors for toxic heavy metal detection

2013 IEEE SENSORS, 2013
In this study, a guided shear horizontal mode surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) sensor with 64° YX-LiNbO3 based piezoelectric substrate and gold (Au) interdigitated electrodes (IDE) was used for the detection of toxic heavy metal compounds. A flow cell, with a reservoir volume of 3 μl, which employs inlet and outlet valves for the microfluidic chamber and

Liquid sensing system based on two port SH-SAW resonator

1999 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium. Proceedings. International Symposium (Cat. No.99CH37027), 1999
A new liquid flow sensing system constructed with SH-SAW resonator was used to characterize liquid properties. Surface acoustic waves with the shear horizontal displacement (SH-SAW) have been used for sensing the properties in liquid phase. The SH-SAW resonator having two port was fabricated on a 36° rotated Y cut X prop. LiTaO3 (36YX LiTaO3) substrate.

Numerical analysis of liquid-phase SH-SAW biosensor on quartz

2012 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2012
This paper describes a numerical analysis for the shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) immunoassay biosensor. A numerical calculation method which was proposed by Campbell and Jones has been generally used to calculate SAW propagation characteristics.

Velocity and damping of the SH-SAW in normal liquid

Physica B: Condensed Matter, 2003
Abstract We developed a shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) sensor to investigate the viscoelastic properties and the transverse sound in normal and superfluid 3 He . The SAW was generated and detected by two sets of interdigital transducers on LiTaO3 substrate. The distance between generator and detector was 21 mm . The

Temperature stability analysis of LGS for SH-SAW sensor applications

2010 IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium, 2010
New piezoelectric materials such as Langasite (La 3 Ga 5 SiO 14 , LGS), are of particular interest for bio-chemical sensor applications because of their temperature compensated characteristics. For liquid phase sensing applications, acoustic devices operating in shear horizontal surface acoustic waves (SH-SAW) mode are desired due to their low wave ...

High coupling phononic SH-SAW resonators for in-liquid operation

2016 European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF), 2016
In this communication we report on initial studies on the in-liquid operation of surface acoustic wave (SAW) phononic resonators employing shear (SH)-SAWs. The mode of operation is a SH-SAW with very high electromechanical coupling, propagating in the X-direction of Y-cut LiNbO3 substrates.

SH-SAW propagation in a piezoelectric structure with viscoelastic layer

2012 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves, and Device Applications (SPAWDA), 2012
An analytical approach is taken to investigate shear horizontal surface acoustic wave propagation in viscoelastic/piezoelectric structure, where a viscoelastic material thin layer is bonded to a semi-infinite piezoelectric substrate. The analytical solution of dispersion relations are obtained for electrically open and shorted boundary conditions.

Rayleigh SAW-Assisted SH-SAW Immunosensor on X-Cut 148-Y LiTaO3

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2016
In this paper, we describe a shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) immunosensor that utilizes induce agitation by a Rayleigh SAW (R-SAW) on an X-cut 148-Y LiTaO3 substrate. On this substrate, SH-SAWs and R-SAWs with different frequencies can be effectively generated at an interdigital transducer (IDT). First, to consider the power flow angles
