Electrochemically Induced Structural Evolution to Generate Optimized High‐Entropy‐Alloy Electrocatalysts for Ethanol Oxidation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Electrochemical cycling drives spontaneous facet optimization in high‐entropy Pd@PdPtIrRuRh core‐shell nanocrystals, reshaping simple cubes into severely beveled architectures with balanced {100}/{110}/{111} facets. This dynamic restructuring yields active electrocatalysts that favor complete ethanol oxidation via the C1 pathway, suppress strongly ...

Molecular mechanisms of shade tolerance in plants

open access: yesNew Phytologist, 2023
SummaryShade tolerance is an ecological concept used in a wide range of disciplines, from plant physiology to landscaping or gardening. It refers to the strategy of some plants to persist and even thrive in environments with low light levels because of the shade produced by the vegetation proximity (e.g. in the understory).

Hydraulic acclimation to shading in boreal conifers of varying shade tolerance

Plant, Cell & Environment, 2010
The purpose of this study was to determine how shading affects the hydraulic and wood-anatomical characteristics of four boreal conifers (Pinus banksiana, Pinus contorta, Picea glauca and Picea mariana) that differ in shade tolerance. Plants were grown in an open field and under a deciduous-dominated overstory for 6 years.
