Color match of two different ceramic systems to selected shades of one shade guide
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2011There are no consistent indications given by dental manufacturers on how to layer ceramics to achieve a color match to a shade selected from a dental shade guide. The technique for ceramic layering relies primarily on the skill and experience of ceramists and is not easily predictable. The purpose of this study was to evaluate, using a clinical ...

The objective of this study was to investigate whether a systematically arranged shade guide system (Vita 3D-Master) allows clinicians to achieve a better shade match of a restoration, as compared to a conventional shade guide with a design based on empirical values (Vita Classical).Fifty-nine restorations in 42 patients being treated by student ...

Diffuse shading losses in tracking photovoltaic systems
2014 IEEE 40th Photovoltaic Specialist Conference (PVSC), 2014Shading losses of the diffuse irradiance component occur when objects block a portion of the sky view of a solar collector. Accurate PV system performance modeling must include a consideration of diffuse shading losses. Because of the difficulties in predicting the anisotropic distribution of the diffuse irradiance, existing models of diffuse shading ...

Imaging system response linearization and shading correction
Proceedings. 1984 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2005Shading correction of image sensors is a very important operation in visual inspection applications. The generation and application of shading correction with and without imaging system response linearization is discussed and demonstrated. The linearization is achieved by subtracting the dark current image and by applying a lookup table operation.

Tensegrity systems as responsive solar shadings
2015In 1987 the World Commission on Environment and Development released the “Brundtland Report”, a document that introduced the concept of sustainable development, focusing the attention on the need of a careful use of natural resources, which construction sector is one of the most consumer of.

DYNAMIC FACADE SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING SHADING
2020A dynamic facade system for controlling shading, characterized in that said facade system comprises a block (30) composed of an outer glass panel (31), an intermediate framework (32) inside which a series of steel cables (33) are fixed, and an inner framework (34) that incorporates an inner glass panel (35); said outer glass panel (31), said ...

Cellular Automaton-Based Shading System Prototypes
2016The research on Cellular Automata (CA) has already commenced in the first half of the twentieth century. However, since then only a few devices have been built based or inspired by them. Nearly a decade ago the concept of Cellular Automaton-based Shading System (CASS) for dynamic control of a Building Envelope has been introduced. This chapter presents

Cellular Automaton-Based Shading System (CASS)
2016This chapter collects the findings of the research on the cellular automaton-based shading systems (CASS) for building envelopes. CASS is based on congruent modular units, thus it has the potential of being inexpensive and robust. Two approaches for the realization of CASS are presented: based on the liquid crystal technology, and based on the rotation
