Efficient shadow map filtering

2008

Noise Reduction of Chaotic Systems by Kalman Filtering and by Shadowing

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1997
We investigate two techniques for filtering signals from noisy nonlinear systems. Both the dynamics and the observed signals may be subject to noise. The first technique is a modified Kalman filter which accounts for the noise-amplification properties of chaotic systems and has less tendency to diverge than the usual Kalman filter.

Filtering the shadows from poorly illuminated photos

Proceedings of the 2010 ACM Symposium on Applied Computing, 2010
This paper presents a new algorithm for filtering shadowy photos degraded by uneven light condition. The dark photos are harder to use for face recognition or even an analysis of the scene. Corrections can be made using commercial tools as Photoshop™ but this is done manually and it requires a specialized user.

Shadowed non-local image guided filter

Ninth International Conference on Graphic and Image Processing (ICGIP 2017), 2018
Guided image filter has been widely used in image processing. Considering the Non-local model is an excellent method for global information accumulation, the non-local image guided filter has been proposed and shown good performance in many image processing tasks by utilizing the non-local similarity of the guidance image. In this paper, we introduce a

MOSFET-C Shadow Filters Based on FDCCII for Cognitive Communications

Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers, 2022
In cognitive communications, it is very important to be able to use data in different standards with a single receiver for reducing the cost. In order to achieve this, the application of shadow filters in cognitive communications provides an advantage in terms of having both a wide frequency range and an easy reconfiguration. In this paper, new MOSFET-

Shadow and ordering effects in fibrous electret filters

Journal of Aerosol Science, 1992
Abstract In this paper “layer” model of a fibrous filter is presented and results of numerical calculation of filtration efficiency for electret filter are shown. They are compared with prediction obtained from the constant single cell efficiency concept. Effect of a filter structure on filtration efficiency is discussed.

Fully Active and Minimal Shadow Bandpass Filter

2018 International Conference on Engineering, Applied Sciences, and Technology (ICEAST), 2018
A new topology of shadow bandpass filters is presented in this paper. The proposed circuit employs the active building block of three voltage differencing transconductance amplifiers (VDTA) along with two grounded capacitors. This results in an additional attractive feature of being fully active and minimal component-count. Practical realization of the

Median filtering using polarization-encoded optical shadow casting

Applied Optics, 1989
A very powerful space-variant image processing technique such as median filtering is performed using the polarization-encoded optical shadow casting (POSC) system. The POSC system is used to process two different noisy images. Two different POSC architectures and input encodings are identified and compared.

Directable anime-like shadow based on water mapping filter

SIGGRAPH '09: Posters, 2009
Shadows in 2D Anime play a significant role for expressing symbolic visual effects such as the character's position and shape. However, animators frequently can't draw detailed shadows according to their intentions because of time constraints and a lack of skilled animators. For solving this problem, we have developed a system that can generate shadows

Failures of sequential Bayesian filters and the successes of shadowing filters in tracking of nonlinear deterministic and stochastic systems

Physical Review E, 2009
Sequential Bayesian filters, such as particle filters, are often presented as an ideal means of tracking the state of nonlinear systems. Here shadowing filters are demonstrated to perform better than sequential filters at tracking under specific circumstances.
