Testing a 5G Communication System: Kriging-Aided O2I Path Loss Modeling Based on 3.5 GHz Measurement Analysis

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Deep knowledge of how radio waves behave in a practical wireless channel is required for the effective planning and deployment of radio access networks in outdoor-to-indoor (O2I) environments.

Spectrahedral Shadows [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Algebra and Geometry, 2018
ver. 3: changed title, and changed terminology throughout the paper, using "spectrahedral shadows" instead of "sdp representable sets".

Integration of circadian and hypoxia signaling via non‐canonical heterodimerization

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CLOCK, BMAL1, and HIFs are basic helix‐loop‐helix and Per‐Arnt‐Sim domain (bHLH‐PAS) proteins, which function as transcription factors. bHLH‐PAS proteins are designated in two classes. Many class I proteins are regulated by environmental signals via their PAS domains, but such signals have not been identified for all.

Coverage Improvements for Sub-Terahertz Systems Under Shadowing Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2023
Radio propagation in the millimeter wave and sub-terahertz domain is heavily affected by shadowing conditions. The communication link is blocked without any additional technical means being used. Coverage improvements can be provided by using reflectors,

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Theory of MBE Growth of Nanowires on Reflecting Substrates

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
Selective area growth (SAG) of III-V nanowires (NWs) by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and related epitaxy techniques offer several advantages over growth on unpatterned substrates.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

A Model-Based RF Hand Motion Detection System for Shadowing Scenarios

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
With the explosive growth of mobile computing, new modes of human-computer interaction (HCI) are emerging and becoming feasible. Compared to vision-based systems that require lighting, radio frequency (RF)-based hand motion detection systems are becoming

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Non-formal interviews as model interfaces: A case for deep learning in workplace instructional design research

open access: yesInovacije u Nastavi
This paper introduces non-formal interviews as a method of qualitative data collection in instructional design research (IDR), particularly in workplace-based lifelong learning interventions. Drawing on case study and autoethnographic reflection on prior
