MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

We found that the relative importance of water table depth (WTD) and vapour pressure deficit as drivers of evaporation varied with WTD at our partially drained bare peat site. Up until a certain threshold, increases in WTD did not cause a decrease in evaporation rates, suggesting a strong capillary connection with the surface peat.
