Unsteady Flow Behaviors and Vortex Dynamic Characteristics of a Marine Centrifugal Pump under the Swing Motion

open access: yesMachines
Due to the effects of swing motion, the performances and internal flow characteristics of marine centrifugal pump undergo some unsteady variations in the marine environment. The hydraulic test system with six degree of freedom parallel motion platform is

Performance assessment of a potential underground thermal storage facility: Case study of the closed mine Prosper‐Haniel in the Ruhr coal mining area in Germany

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the feasibility of an underground closed‐loop thermal storage facility at a post‐mining site, intended for seasonal heat energy storage. Its principal design shows water flow directions in winter and summer (1, 2), heat pumps (3), an upper water reservoir (4), and connecting pipes (5).

Design and Multibody Dynamics Modeling of a Novel High‐Static‐Low‐Dynamic‐Stiffness Vibration Isolation Mechanism Based on Euler Buckling Characteristics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vibration isolation has long been a critical area of research, with the design of isolators based on the mechanical properties of Euler buckling beams representing one of the primary approaches. Traditionally, the focus has been on utilizing the negative stiffness characteristics of a post‐buckled Euler beam in parallel with positive stiffness

Shaping the Flow: Impact of Blade Shape on Performance and Hemocompatibility in Rotodynamic Blood Pumps

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Blade shapes (leading‐edge geometry and thickness) in rotodynamic blood pumps were systematically evaluated. Thinner blades improve pump efficiency by reducing blockage effects, while neither blade thickness nor leading‐edge geometry shows clear hemocompatibility benefits. Overall, blade shape has a limited impact on hemocompatibility, indicating it is

How L2 Learners Negotiate Meaning in GenAI‐Supported Creative Writing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This qualitative study explores how second language (L2) learners negotiate meaning and co‐construct knowledge with generative AI (GenAI) in a 12‐week multimodal creative writing project. Chinese middle school students (N = 75) created English picture books using a conversational GenAI agent supporting textual and text‐to‐image generation.

Suture‐Related Delayed Epidural Hematoma Following Cervical Open‐Door Laminoplasty: A Report of Two Cases and Literature Review

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
We report two cases of delayed postoperative spinal epidural hematoma occurring on postoperative Day 7 after cervical open‐door laminoplasty. Emergency MRI showed large paraspinal intramuscular hematomas compressing the cord, and re‐exploration found loose barbed sutures with muscle bleeding.

Actuation Strategies for Underwater Jet‐Propelled Soft Robots

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 6, Page 3868-3892, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This review article examines jet‐propulsion mechanisms in underwater soft robotic systems, focusing exclusively on physically fabricated and experimentally validated robots. Covering research published from 2013 to 2025, this study classifies and evaluates jet‐propulsion robots based on their actuation mechanisms.

A Computational Study on the Excitation Forces of Partially Submerged Propellers for High-Speed Boats

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
During high-speed navigation, boat propellers often become partially exposed due to elevated sailing speeds. This condition results in a unique operational scenario where propellers are only partially submerged.

Engineering Layered Magnetic Hydrogels for Cell Placement via Shear and Magnetic Field‐Induced Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
Magnetic particles are organized into layered architectures by combining shear flow and magnetic fields, with the resulting structures governed by appropriate Mason numbers. The programmed assemblies provide spatial guidance for cell placement, linking field‐controlled self‐assembly, flow‐induced structuring and biological organization.
