ABSTRACT: Traffic moving loading causes the rotation of principal stress axis and leads to a heart-shaped stress path in the deviatoric stress space. Using Dynamic Hollow Cylinder Apparatus (DHCA), a series of heart-shaped and triaxial cyclic undrained tests were performed on Shanghai saturated soft clay.

Abstract An economical method for strengthening non-composite steel girder bridges is to create composite action by “post-installing” shear connectors to engage the steel girder and concrete deck to act as a unit. Concepts of inelastic moment redistribution can be used to further increase the load-carrying capacity of continuous bridges.

Abstract The behavior of unbound granular material under repeated loads primarily depends on the nature and arrangement of constituent particles, particle size and shape. However, very few analytical models are available for predicting the behavior of unbound granular material under repeated loads.

Abstract Traffic loading causes the rotation of principal stress axis and generates a heart-shaped stress path in the deviatoric stress space. Using dynamic hollow cylinder apparatus (DHCA), a series of cyclic heart-shaped and cyclic triaxial undrained tests were performed on Shanghai clay through simultaneously varying the torsional shear stress and

ABSTRACTOn the basis of the Bauschinger effect, a relationship between the elastic space defined in this study and the accumulated plastic strain is measured in uniaxial ratcheting tests of 304 stainless steel at room temperature. According to this relationship, a new model of uniaxial ratcheting is established and used to simulate uniaxial ratcheting ...

High-cycle shakedown, ratcheting and liquefaction behavior of anisotropic granular material with fabric evolution: Experiments and constitutive modelling [PDF]
Although the mechanical response of granular materials strongly depends on the interplay between their anisotropic internal structure (fabric) and loading direction, such coupling is not explicitly considered in existing high-cycle experimental datasets ...
