Geochemical and Geological Investigation of Skarn‐Type Pb–Zn Mineralization in Hastanetepe (Balya‐Balıkesir, Türkiye): An Approach Based on Fluid Inclusions, Sulphur Isotopes and Geochemical Data

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Integrated petrographic, mineralogical and geochemical data from the Hastanetepe Pb–Zn deposit (Balya, Türkiye) reveal multi‐stage hydrothermal alteration and a magmatic sulphur source. Fluid inclusion and sulphur isotope results indicate a complex fluid evolution responsible for skarn‐type Pb–Zn mineralization along limestone–dacite contacts ...

Shale gas investigations in Denmark: Lower Palaeozoic shales on Bornholm [PDF]

open access: yesGeological Survey of Denmark and Greenland Bulletin, 2011
The Cambrian to Lower Silurian succession in Denmark is mostly composed of organic-rich black shales that were deposited in an epicontinental sea during a period of high global sea level (Haq & Schutter 2008). The mid-Cambrian to early Ordovician Alum Shale was intensively studied in the 1980s for its source-rock properties (e.g.

Pre-stack seismic density inversion in marine shale reservoirs in the southern Jiaoshiba area, Sichuan Basin, China

open access: yesPetroleum Science, 2018
For a typical marine shale reservoir in the Jiaoshiba area, Sichuan Basin of China, P-impedance is sensitive for identifying lithology but not suitable for indicating good shale reservoirs.

China Stakes on Shale Gas

open access: yes, 2016
The shale gas production in the USA was not missed in China for which the issues of hydrocarbon export and development of own resources are always in the focus of attention of its leadership. Preliminary investigations conducted in China have revealed considerable reserves of shale gas.

Seismic Sequence Stratigraphy Applied to Reservoir Recognition and Evolution on Marine Carbonatic Ramp—Macaé Group (Albian to Cenomanian) of Campos Basin

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
A classic oil producing interval of the Campos Basin—Macaé Group is revisited through seismic stratigraphic analysis, providing a stratigraphic framework, characteristic depositional and relative time positioning for several complex structural settings.

Shale Gas The Promise and the Peril [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Shale gas has the potential to transform the U.S. energy-based economy in the electricity, transportation, and chemical sectors. U.S. success can be expected to translate to Europe and other parts of the world. Shale gas production is uniquely enabled by hydraulic fracturing, a technique that has come under heavy scrutiny for its potential to cause ...

Geochemistry and Geochronology of Magmatic Rocks in Southwestern and Northeastern Cambodia: Implications for the Tectonic Evolution and Metallogenesis of the Loei Fold Belt

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
The composition of intrusive rocks suggests that the magma was likely generated in a subduction‐related setting. The arc crustal thickness in the Phnom Sro Ngam and Halo Prospects was probably < 40 km during emplacement. Zircon U–Pb age range indicates a correlation with Loei Fold Belt magmatic activity.

The Glacial Legacy of the Geneva Basin: Morphology and implications of an intricate tunnel valley system revealed from 3D seismic data

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Like other perialpine basins and glaciated margins, the Geneva Basin in SW Switzerland is characterised by buried tunnel valleys, which are elongated incisions widely attributed to subglacial meltwater erosion beneath continental ice sheets. However, an inclusive understanding of the geological control on the evolution of the glacial landscape

Safety Evaluation Method for Casing Running in Deep Shale Gas Horizontal Wells

open access: yesShiyou jixie
To address issues such as passability and pre-fracturing casing deformation during casing running operation in deep shale gas wells, the beam-column infinitesimal method was used to build a mechanical model for trajectory of casing running in crooked ...

A Coupled Extended Finite Element–Cohesive Zone Model for Hydraulic Fracture Propagation Under Poroelastic Effects Across Different Propagation Regimes

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Numerical simulation of hydraulic fracturing remains challenging due to the strong coupling between geomechanics and fluid flow when modelling multiple physical mechanisms of rock deformation, fracture evolution and fluid leak‐off. This study develops a coupled hydraulic fracture propagation framework that combines the extended finite element ...
